The 64 was sharp it must have been what they made into the 70s corvette. All the others well..i see why they never made it. One really did resemble the batmobile just silver in color. Very interesting pics!

The 64 Banshee doe's have the Corvette look and a two seater, but also the beginnings of the the 3rd Gen lines.

I find these cars interesting for all the parts you see that did make it, or slightly modified, made to final productions. They are fantasy cars in a way, but do fore shadow things to come.

I thought there are rumors that Pontiac may coming back just with the trans am brand .GM still has the Pontiac name.....you never know.

I've heard that too, but other than these privately modified cars I've seen nothing. Some of the kits I've seen are pretty nice. I think a reintroduction of at least the TA would sell well.

Those 50's GM Firebird concept cars didn't have pistons. They were gas turbine cars.

I agree.I dont know what was in their heads but they stopped making one of cars that made them known.I am pretty sure they will bring back Pontiac even if its just for the Firebird.Many other car companies stopped making cars in the past and returned .No one misses the Aztek thou

I find it interesting that John Delorean was behind the 1964 Banshee project. Doesn't it look similar to his namesake auto?

That's what started my search. Whenever I searched for Firebird Concepts up came Banshee cars. If you know of any 3rd Gen concepts, it would great to add to the collection.

What I did see in the photo's were things like the unusual T Top on the concept 4 above. Though they go up and away from the center line of the car, they are one of the first designs I've ever seen on a car. The body lines that evolved into the 3rd Gens. The last of the 2nd Gen concepts front end is moving closer to the 3rd Gen dropping front. The more I look at them the more clues I see that headed into the latter cars.

I remember seeing this in the "KNIGHT RIDER" movie as kitt's new body personally I liked him better in a third gen .

My personal interest in this came when I read an article about 91-92 Firebirds. It said the front end design came from the Pontiac Banshee. Other than the Kammback Wagon, I haven't really found any for 3rd Gens. I would like to find the Banshee that the front end of my car came from.

Did the concepts for 3rd Gen's run under a different name?

I went back to the web to look for 3rd Gen concepts. Nothing comes up specifically for them but a few more interesting candidates towards that goal did come up. Plus a few other interesting Banshee's.

When i went to the Corvette and Muscle Car Show at the the Rosemont Convention Center, in Rosemont IL. I came across the prototype for the '69 T/A. It was fully documented along with a small tv showing video of the history of that car. It's viewable on Youtube as well if you type in "The Trans Am Story"...
I wanted to talk to the guy but he was pretty occupied with a film crew so i didn't want to bother him, but here are a few pics....

I too would like to see some prototype pics for the 3rdgens...call me crazy but long time ago i thought i came across an article somewhere on the boards about a 4 wheel drive camaro. I remember a pic of the car on a lift and you can see the rear wheels turned in one direction and i believe there was a **** on the center consule that would control the rear axle system...(?) anyone know if what i'm saying is true or am i just making up stuff?
