Anyone recently ordered a PHS kit for a third gen?
Wasn't sure if this was History or Vendor review?
Ready to place my order hoping to find some history on my 83 'bird but hesitant after reading the few threads I found here on thirdgen.
For $65, I really don't want a list of RPO codes and useless general paperwork.
Also see some people had received window stickers but the site is confusing... do they maybe just no longer offer them for later cars?
I'd call or email them but... you can't. You can write them I guess? Not sure if they respond though.
So, anyone recently ordered one? What year is you car, and what did you receive?

Quite a few people have ordered from PHS or GM Media Archive. All mine have been for 1988 and 1992 Trans Ams.
Per PHS, this is what's included:
The information packet from PHS will include the following:
And that's about right. You get a copy of the invoice showing a few, but not all, RPO codes along with dealership information from where your car was billed. They include a Pontiac worksheet (order form) for that year, which many are available online. And some specifications and brief overview of that model year.
Really, the dealership name and address is probably one of the more valuable information from PHS. And some, but not all, of the RPO codes if your car is missing the SPID sticker or the radiator tag for cars prior to the SPID.
Perhaps someone who bought a kit for their 1983 can confirm but I suspect it's nearly no different given it's similar for 2nd Gens.

- A copy of the factory invoice or billing history
- A letter decoding the options (when necessary)
- A copy of a dealer order form for that year
- Other specific information for that year and model Pontiac, if available

Thanks for the email link. Not sure why they hide that!

I just received my PHS for a 75 Trans Am. It was a very thin envelope with options listed but no info on the dealer. There was a letter inside explaining that some records are not complete as the information is missing or not legible. I recommend calling them to see if the 83 is one of the "missing years".
In contrast, for my 68 Firebird, I received a ton of info and PHS was well worth it.
Window stickers are available for Trans Ams up to 1979 for an extra $50.

I just received my PHS a couple weeks ago. They advertised 64-74 Lemans/GTO and 67 to 79 Firebird/Trans Am. I'm not sure if this is because I ordered PHS for a 75 TA but I wondered why no 80/81.
To get it requires a copy of PMD "Billing History" Manifest or Dealer Invoice from PHS.
I don't know if they were excluding Third Gen info since I ordered for a 2nd gen.

The documentation that Jim (Mattison of PHS) has is fairly complete but not entirely. If some of you don't know the whole story there it's quite interesting and we owe Jim an enormous debt of gratitude for saving it.
At one point in Pontiac/GM/PHS history there arose a dispute as to who owned the information and who should profit from it. There was a period of time when none of it was available while the case was being sorted out. Suffice it to say, GM held all the cards, not to mention the documentation, and decided for whatever reason to junk them all. Thankfully Jim was tipped off and he & his son literally went dumpster diving to retrieve them. They got everything they could, but some were damaged and some were missing - also due to the age of the documentation, some of the microfilms are unreadable.
Very rarely gaps in the documentation turn up, but not often enough to have a real impact on our hobby. Had it not been for Jim's tenacity & his (& his sons) willingness to pursue this, we would be left completely out in the cold.
