not sure what i have 86 iroc

not sure what i have 86 iroc

bought an 86 iroc with a 305 carb motor (currently seized) has manual set up, clutch pedal etc... converted to automatic. I am reading that 86 did not come in manual?? not sure what I have


this is the vin 1G1FP87H9GN108168 1986 thanks for help

I have an 86' and it was a standard. I just put a auto in it. They did come with t-5s behind the 305's

Yup, sounds like you have a LG4 car. (carbed 305) Not sure there were any IROCs made that year in that combo, might just be someone stuck the stickers on it. But that hardly matters at this point. It just kinda is what it is now.

The 305(LG4) And 5-Speed Manual Were Standard On Both The IROC And Z28 In 1986.

All models could get the LG4 in 1986
The Z28 & IROC had optional LB9/A4

The LG4 was available with the A4 or M4

For 1985-1986 the LB9 was only available with the 700r4. 1987 was the first year the LB9/T-5 drivetrain was available. The LG4 was available with the T-5 or the 700r4. Although automatic thirdgens largely out number the T-5 cars that were produced.
