1988 Notchback GTA
I found an 88 notchback for sale, looks clean and fixable for a good price. But I see it has a rebuilt title. I see no major damage and only report on carfax shows a minor rear end collision. How bad will this affect my resale value /collectors value of the car? If I decided to sell after i fix it up? I'm trying to figure if it's worth my hassle. It's got low miles...

Rebuilt title cars are really hard to resell. Just about cuts value in half. If it's cheap it might be worth buying and fixing if you planned to keep it but prolly not gonna be worth buying to flip. If it's got a rebuilt title then this "minor rear end collision" wasn't as minor as it says. Take a lot of damage to cause a vehicle to get a rebuilt title.

Just out of curiosity, was this the one in Boyertown? I had been interested but he told me it had no title at all..

Whether the seller has the title or not, carfax will tell you the status of the title

I'd say deduct about 33% for the rebuilt title.

Which is prolly what it's being sold for already, so any money put into it after is just a loss as far as buying to flip. Flipping cars takes a lot of different mind set than buying to drive yourself. My dad is struggling with this lol we bought a ranger to flip and I constantly have to tell him no you don't need to buy that, it doesn't need brand new interior to sell it or brand new tires, used stuff is fine as long as it runs and passes inspection! He's spending all our profit lol.

1st of all Is it a REAL Notchback?they only made like 600 or so.check and see if the Vin No. is on the hatch.
I see they made 718 of them.and also make sure the rear seats are for the hatchback, they are different than the reg. seats

Re: 1988 Notchback GTA
www.GTANotchback.com for visual and information. There was an aftermarket Notchback hatch available that isn't the same as the stock one through Pontiac.
However, even if it was an original Notchback, I'm not sure that would make much difference. The Notchbacks aren't commanding really any more than a standard GTA and the serious ones looking will probably prefer one with a clean title.
