Does anyone have info on how to decode the date codes on 3rd gen glass?
I have this info for the earlier cars, but nothing after early 80's

I found it! The glass on my 89 is XC, but was not sure what the "10" is for XC-10

Almost have to ask, who would come up with such a crazy system? Would it just not make more sense to have A-M (skip I) for the month and something similar for the year? Just seems bizarre to me to literally encrypt them

the 10 might mean the 10th day of the month, OR it could just mean the 23rd day of the month if you follow the logic of the lettering

Libbey owens ford company came up with it, & yes they were probably drinking at the time.

Thats why you see LOF on the glass as well. Very screwy.....

LOF as you pointed out is the company name... Norwood cars were lucky enough to get PPG glass... the Van Nuys cars got the LOF...

They could have even used the by then standardized VIN coding system for model year, H=1987, J=1988, K=1989 and so on. But noooo They could not make it something simple.
