No responses....so next question? IF no T-top 1988 or 1989 1LE Trans Ams then what changed so that they were produced or allowed to be ordered in 90-92?

We unfortunately don't have the Compnine data for anything prior to 1990 so it's hard to pull the numbers.
Of the TA's, only 3 were built in 1988 and 26 in 1989. Not saying that none of those could have been built with CC1 T-Tops but I would bet that most of them were built for the Players Cup and were export models. That being said, Compnine shows that of the 4 TA's built in 1990 - 2 were domestic & 2 were export with one each of those being T-tops, so you never know.

I agree to probably none built '88-89 and no reasonable way to know. Still makes me wonder why the General decided OK for Formulas to have 1LE in 91-92? Seems like the Formula was a better platform for the 1LE option than the T/A. Maybe due to Firehawk production in 91.

2 of the 4 TA's in 1990 got them...no idea.
I believe at least one of the 1989 TA's got C60 A/C as well. Remember talking to the owner in the DC area several years ago unfortunately I never saw any documentation. He did run it through e-bay at least once however.
Looking at the plate on your car you are another one of the 1LE CC1 owners then?
Was your TA one of the 4 US delivery units or one of the 15 built for export?

Yes, a fellow 1LE-CC1 owner. Mine is the one of 15 export .I bought ML205130 off this board on Christmas Day last year. It was posted in this section and folks really tore into it because of condition. I contacted owner, verified numbers match on all but warranty MK6 from 1992 and bought it. This sucker pulls like a freight train and is original to the plug wires. I've laid low about it as it needed sorting but have been very pleased with it. I think there is one other Trans Am around on this board but most 1LE-CC1 that survived appear to be Formulas. Your red car is the nicest one I have seen. I've not even seen a picture of the T/A's except mine.

Greg Williams had one of the T-Top TA's that I believe is in the Hawks collection now, white I think. There is another T-Top 91 Formula I know of other than the one that was on e-bay last week with the title issue.
Is yours the black one that was in Michigan?
Mine is getting better each week and was a good car to start with, Andy was a good steward.

Mine is the black one from Michigan, it came from Nova Scotia. I spoke with one of the former owners in Nova Scotia, he had purchased it to make a KITT conversion car but did not follow through thankfully. He had not heard of a 1LE and did not know the car was one. He bought it off of Kijiji. I'm still moving forward in documenting ownership trail....apparently itis was not known it is a 1LE until the person whom I bought it from.

One of the 3 1988 1LE Trans Ams was sold new at Sidney Moncrief Pontiac/GMC in Sherwood, Arkansas. I have seen it on several occasions (had a chance to buy it in '00 for $10k) and that car was a white hardtop with white PW7 rims...later changed to black.

I have the VIN of a 1991 (05/90 build date) 1LE T-Top trans Am. The RPO sticker was missing on the car, so no pics. I did verify the VIN and RPO codes. It was an odd car ... hard to verify as genuine. With Compnine ... you can look it up as it was CDN.

I saw it in person in 2003. Ran and drove then ... but wow that was 13 years ago. No idea where it is now. As it had no RPO sticker on it, tough to quickly ID as a 1LE. You'd have to run to the dealer to check it. No Compnine back then.

There were surprisingly quite a few T-Top Cars built by Pontiac - 31 total. Here is the full breakdown of 90-92 Pontiacs, I hope to do the same with the Camaros in the near future.
1990 Numbers - No B4U Hawk or R7U Players Cup produced:
1LE production 1990 = 4, All TA's
1LE + C60 = 0
1LE + MK6 = 4, All TA's
1LE + L98 = 0
1LE + Z49 Export Models = 1
1LE + CC1 T-Tops = 2, both MK6 1 domestic and 1 Export
1990 numbers are complete - Compnine has a full data set for this year.
1991 Numbers including B4U Hawk & R7U Players Cup info:
1LE production 1991 = 106, 46 Formulas & 60 TA's
1LE + B4U Hawks = 9, All Formulas
1LE + C60 = 9, All Formulas and all L98 and all B4U Hawks
1LE + MK6 = 87, 27 Formulas and 60 TA's
1LE + R7U = 23, All TA's and all MK6
1LE + L98 = 19, All Formulas, 9 B4U Hawks
1LE + Z49 Export Models = 43, All TA's, all MK6, 23 R7U Players Cup Cars
1LE + CC1 T-Tops = 27, 8 Formula & 19 TA, all MK6 and 15 of the TA's were Z49 Export
We are missing two numbers from compilation shown below which appear to be 2 TA's that were delivered domestically.
1992 Numbers including B4U Hawk & R7U Players Cup info:
1LE production 1992 = 27, 17 Formulas & 10 TA's
1LE + B4U Hawks = 11, All Formulas
1LE + C60 = 11, All Formulas and all L98 and all B4U Hawks

1LE + Z49 Export Models = 6, All TA's and all MK6

We are missing 4 cars from the numbers in the compilation shown below, 3 Formulas & 1 TA - the yellow car from Musclecar Review could be one of these and it would be the only MK6 C60 that was produced in the 91/92 series if it's for real and coded as a 1LE.

I don't know how old this post is but I have just picked up a 1989 trans am 1le cc1 which they had know idea what it was and I picked it up for a steal

Curious to see. Someone can run the VIN for you and check RPO codes.

17 of the 26 1989 1LE Trans Ams were R7U cars ... all without T-tops. That leaves 3 in Canada (2 of which I have the VIN's on which were GM Test Mules - No T-tops), and 6 in the USA.
