Not sure what this is?

Hi Guys, not sure what this is or if it original to the car. I was cleaning out the Center Console and it was at the bottom.

Re: Not sure what this is?

Buckshot here. Looks like a seat belt plug to keep the buzzer from buzzing if the seat belt isn't hooked up.

definitely what it looks like, especially with the "do not use while driving" warning on it.

I didn't think these cars beeped without the seat belt on though? my 86 T/A and my brothers 92 RS both dont.

Probably unplugged inside the lower retractor reel cover

Re: Not sure what this is?

I will give you my best guess as to what it is but can tell you what it isn't, and this is NOT a 3rd Gen part that was delivered from the factory. I agree it may be a chime or buzzer override but I have never seen one and I did delivery inspections / new vehicle prep on about 100 3rd Gens Camaros from 87-92 Look on the back for a molded p/n. The odd thing is if it was a service department "tool" it would be branded by OTC or Kent Moore or other tool vendor as tools were not marked Chevrolet. I think it may have been used in the showroom so they could do the sales presentation with a potential buyer in the car and the key in the on position while the salesman does a demonstration without the annoying noise. That would explain the Chevrolet branding and do not use warning.

No 3rd gen had the seat belt buzzer.

Re: Not sure what this is?

My '84 TA had it until I put after market seat belts in. I could hear it, it's in the schematic and description for the audio alarm system. Not very loud, but it's there.

Checked the manual for our '82 Camaro, shows it in there too.

Mine has a seat belt buzzer. It's more of a tone (~"A") than a buzz.

Re: Not sure what this is?

Circuit description for the Audio Alarm System describes it as "a slow chime"

Re: Not sure what this is?

The OP said the chime switch is in the lower roll up for the seatbelt so if this was to stop the chime it would have no effect on the plug side. My buzzer has been dicounected, but in my truck the buzzer does not start until you put it in drive and start moving.
There is no pin or part no. stamped or printed on it. It is printed exactly the same on the other side.
