tinting windows after painting car
Iss there a wait period for tinting your windows after painting a car? I just painted my car with acrylic urethane (black) and want to get my windows tinted. I have been told there is and isn't, I was told 72hrs by a professional tinter, and I did a google search that yeilded both yes and no answers. I asked a friend who has a lot of bodywork experience and he said no wait. I have also been told not to wash the car for about a month, and I've been told when he puts the tint on he has to wash the windows with soapy water and I don't want to worry about the soapy water messing up the paints finish. Sorry if its a dumb question but I just can't seem to get a straight answer! Thanks

Acrylic v/s Urethane =http://www.thomasnet.com/articles/pl...lic-automotive
I really did not touch mine except to give it very gentle "water" washes for the very first 5 months. That includes having any one work around the paint. I'm sure that's over kill to some but there was nothing rushing me.

Re: tinting windows after painting car
Thanks, that was informative. I didn't know some of that. I am glad I used acrylic urethane, I am very happy with it so far. But not wash it for 5 months? That seems a bit long...
So you wouldn't. Do it this early I presume. Does anyone else have any input?
I wonder if he just used plain water, would that be ok? I know the tint goes inside, but I think he uses the outside as the template. Maybe I could ask him to use the inside as the template as well.

Re: tinting windows after painting car
I guess I learned something new today .I did not know there was even a product called Acrylic Urethane. After a problem I had with a shop scratching my car I have a walk around with the guy that going to be working near it. I hate going to shops of any kind so Ive only had to do it once. The guy looked at me strangely then did walk around with me looking at the paint for scratches ,etc.

Oh, so he's not really washing it down, just kinda dampening it to adjust the tint to its proper place? He is a friend of mine, so I guess ill just make sure he's real careful with the fresh paint. Once again, thanks TGO brothers

I didn't need to do anything on the outside of the car, it was all done on the inside.
Hope this helps you out.
