I'm starting an interior build for my white GTA. I've had this car for about two years and have had plans for building the interior.
The carpet was toast the seats were faded and the console was warped so I'm starting from scratch with a clean canvas
I wanted to upgrade from the dated 80s feel, yet be different than the typical 4th gen interior upgrade.
So... With that said I'll be building most of my own parts from scratch and using non-factory colors.

I like the idea of something different than stock that isn't awful 4th gen stuff. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

I know you said you don't like regular old 4th gen stuff, but you can definitely modify them to fit your car in a unique way. I had these recovered in grey and ebony, and the grey is the exact color of the door panel material so it's a perfect match. Add the embroidery and it's no regular old 4th gen seat swap.

Here is what I'm thinking in terms of the seat, kind of a Porsche cayman style.
I've got the carpet in box and have done the headliner already.

I find it funny that I'm trying to shy away from 4th gen stuff, yet I'm using 01 camaro seats.
It was the only gm seat that not only bolted in, but has the general shape I needed to work with.

Finished shaping the backrests and started on patterning and cutting out material.

What are you using for adding foam to the existing cushion?

Here is one of the backrest inserts in progress.
I used a roll of 4 mil? plastic and some spray can quick adhesive to get the patterns, then drew the lines with a fine sharpie.

The foam I use is special, but the key is to have a high density foam so that the shape isn't crushed when the cover goes on.
Upholstery glue, a grinder, and time.

No, it's actually perforated on a cnc machine. I kryloned the back black to make the holes stand out more.

I'm learning, this is my third set of buckets.
My dad has been doing this for 25 years, so I get to use his stuff as well as his help.

Well the week before school started up I came down with flu like symptoms. Urgent care said nearly every patient they saw that day came for flu symptoms.

So, progress has halted on the build for school.

Had a little time this week to get the covers glued and stapled on, all that's left is mounting the cover boards to the back, which will be on by the end of today.

The pictures really kill the color, almost like the life is sucked out. In real life everything matches to the tee, the carpet is a few shades darker and the headliner is lighter than the color of choice. Right in the sweet spot.

I've been incredibly busy working out the bugs on the rest of the car however I did bend and polished the stainless insert.
The fourth gen dash is a necessity at this point. Not at all permanent. I am debating using a c5 gauge set for the layout.

I will be bringing the thread back as I've got time to work on the car again. Future plans are to cut the tunnel to fit the t56 in better so my 4th gen console will now be "conveniently" unusable. Looks like its time for mdf, foam, a carving knife, grinder, and time.

Nice progress! I do my own interior work too. Just finished the seats and am currently half way through my second door panel. On yours, there's a white line (maybe piping?). How did you do that and can I see a zoomed in shot of that?

Thanks! It's stainless rod with tabs soldered to the backside to grip the panel.
I'll get a better shot tomorrow.

I'm even planning to cut them apart again. I didn't like the bolsters and felt they weren't pronounced enough to hold you in while driving and they looked too much like a stock camaro seat.
The car is on the lift so I'll try to take off a panel for you guys.
