Correct molded/shaped floor mats?

I don't care about finding original floor mats that have the GM logo on them, I'll prolly never find a set...

BUT I need some floor mats that are cut and shaped correctly, most especially for the front passenger foot well.

Anyone know who makes quality mats in the correct medium dark grey AND are shaped correctly?

Thanks!

Alex

I just got mine from there, if you saw my post. I'll take some pics tomorrow with the mats in the car so you can see how they look inside and how they fit before you order if you want.

I saw the thread yeah, please post pics of it in the passenger foot well pushed all the way down so it contours with the sump.

Thanks!

I don't believe so, at least for the Firebird. I had an '82 and also this '92 and they seem identical...

Re: Correct molded/shaped floor mats?

Checkout this thread. It pretty much covers everything about stock-size/fitting floor mats:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/hist...loor-mats.html

The floor mats in the Modern Day Muscle link above are just generic GM replacement mats, not 3rdgen-specific, so it's good that you weren't able to buy them.

And the mats Navy has also do not have a 3rdgen-specific fitment, at least, the driver side doesn't; the passenger side might, but you can't tell by the pics in his thread.

But as you'll see in the thread I linked herein, you can get mats of the correct size, shape, fitment and color from a few different sources, one of which is Jim85IROC, from whom I got mine several years ago. At first, though, even the mats Jim offered were generic replacements. But using my original mats as a template, Jim was able to get production going on mats of the correct fitment. But even the earliest runs of those weren't molded to the passenger side. But as he and I speculated, they did eventually settle and form to a proper fitment. However, eventually the product was produced with the molded fitment, and that's what he and others in the linked-thread currently offer. So checkout that thread for everything you'll want to know for mats of the correct shape, size, fitment and color.

Awesome, I just sent Jim85IROC and email to order a set. Glad they are made by ACC so they should color match my new ACC carpet perfectly!

Thanks!

Pardon the bad lighting, but these are ACC's on top of original carpet - the binding is correct looking, too...

Re: Correct molded/shaped floor mats?

Just to post a follow up...

It appears Jim85IROC does not sell these anymore. After 2 months there was no response from him either via his website or PM here.

Eckler's has them here: http://www.ecklersfirebird.com/fireb...1982-1992.html

However even when you call them they cannot sell without Embroidery. They referred me to ACC directly. ACC then proceeded to rape me for $162.76 with shipping. Evidently they know they are the only place on earth to buy these contoured for our cars :/ I'll tell you what, if they don't fit perfect, I'm going to be PISSED.

I tried calling RockAuto to order the ACC mats but they did not answer the phone.

To make it even more pricey, I had to buy a set of NOS Corvette mats on eBay for $50 with shipping just so I could steal the grey GM logos from them and throw them away lol.

Damn, I'm not even going to want to use these now haha!

Most any GM car from the same time period used those mats and have the rubber GM logo.
I like to find 4 door grandma cars and cut the logo from them for the new mats.

Yeah the vette ones were cheap enough, the right color, and I've been watching them for a few weeks now to buy them.

Don't tell me now even the rear mats had GM logos on them?! lol

The only difference between the originals and the ACC's is the backing, the GM's are smooth and the ACC's have those grippy nubs.

Somewhere in 90 the driver side went to a rubber backed type with the nubs and the pass side wasn't much farther behind

Re: Correct molded/shaped floor mats?

The mats showed up from ACC today. Thought I would post pics to really show how it's shaped since I haven't seen any aside from in car pics of them on the floor of the car...

My NOS GM Corvette mats from eBay show up next Thursday so that's when I'll remove the GM logos and glue them onto these.

Anyone have exact measurements from a real NOS set of F-body mats so I know precisely where to adhere the GM logos? I really appreciate it!!!!

If you look at my pic above, the legs of the chairs are on the logos. On the pass.side the logo starts at 3" down and 6 1/4" from right over to center and on the Drivers side the logo starts at 2 5/16"down,5 3/4" from left to center,5 11/16"from right to center.I took these measurements from my originals, give or take 16th of an inch.I don't think their is a exact science of placement as long as there in the target zone.

Ok great, thank you!!!! I received my eBay mats today and removed the logos. One looks mint perfect, the other shows discoloration from UV. I'll do the best I can for it then I'll prolly glue that one to the drivers mat.

These pics are after hitting them with simply green, a tooth brush, then some tire shine after rinsing them.

What type of glue did you guys use? I'm afraid of discoloring the carpet around it or deforming the plastic logo or it not sticking well or something lol.
