To swap seats or reupholster
So my seats are not in terrible shape but would like to get the car up to excellent quality. So the seats will be needed soon.
I found a pair of charcoal seats for about 386 dollars in almost new condition with no tears. I can get the seats reupholstered from a shop in town about 218. Not sure if anyone has had luck with re upholstery I do know it almost never is the exact color. As far as I know these seats just unbolt as well.

Re: To swap seats or reupholster
I had my covers made and put new foam and the covers on myself. It wasn't super difficult. The new foam makes them a whole lot more comfy. Princess does an amazing job. www.lethalinteriors.com/

$218 seems pretty cheap for recovering your seats I'd be Leary of how they'd turn out unless of course that's 218 + covers

The originals are charcoal (grey and black)
Thanks for that link I will look into that for sure. Are they a whole new seat material? That's what I got atleast from the website

Re: To swap seats or reupholster
It depends if you want it to be original or not. From what I have seen posted here people have had trouble obtaining correct material. In that case mint condition original seats are what you want. Sometimes small repairs can be made if enough original material can be found.
Otherwise you can have new covers made (all new material) and install them yourself, or have them completely reupholstered locally. It is important to see previous work done along with reviews so you know what you are getting before hand. IMO, it is somewhat more of an art than a science.

Re: To swap seats or reupholster
If you decide to get the covers and put them on yourself, do yourself a favor and get new foam. It's not exactly cheap but once you are done it's pretty much a brand new seat. I still smile every time I sit in mine they are so comfortable. There is also a youtube video on how to install the covers. I just uncovered one at a time and recovered it before uncovering the next so I could see where the hog rings were originally. Also be sure to get a good pair of hog ring pliers. I went and got some cheap ones from Lowes and had to grind on them.

+1 That's a VERY low-ball price for re-upholstery work. Probably the labor cost for an upholstery shop to slip some Wall Mart covers over your original buckets......
I've got a couple sets of Real nice black Firebird seats but shipping can get complicated & expensive...... Where are you located??

Re: To swap seats or reupholster
I live far off in Alpine TX close to the TX MX border. I did only want the front seats done as the back seats are nearly pristine. I may just order from classic because that's a great deal. Hopefully shipping isn't too rough on it
