Interior Refresh
I am going to be getting a majority of the pieces of my interior refinished and I figured I should document my progress here.
My steering wheel has been sent off to Redline Goods. They are going finish the wheel in Alcantara as well as thickening the grip of the wheel and add thumb extensions. Really excited to get this piece back.
I also sent my shift **** and ebrake handle off to a member on here to have them refinished in new leather.
New shift boot is also on its way.
Since I have never seen a detailed how-to of removing interior pieces, I figure I'd throw up some pictures with a brief write up:
Removing the wheel:
Begin my prying off the horn cover (no airbag to worry about here in my '89)
Remove all of the wiring
Once the horn and the wiring is removed you are left with this rusty plate, remove that by pulling out towards yourself
You are left with one nut, remove it with a socket and ratchet (16mm). Take the puller tool and thread the bolts into the two threaded holes in the wheel. Begin using the puller and the wheel should pop right off.
You are left with this

Re: Interior Refresh
The shift ****:
The process will be the same for all automatic Thirdgens.
There is this very stubborn staple clip, to remove it, put the shifter in first gear and look at the front of the shifter. You should see the clip in there. Insert a screw driver and pry the clip out. Once the clip is removed, firmly pull up and wiggle off the shift ****.
The ebrake handle is very easy. One Phillips screw, remove the screw completely and the handle slides off.
My interior in its current state, waiting for its recovered pieces:

Re: Interior Refresh
The company that is re-doing my wheel can be found here: Redline Goods
I have yet to see the wheel yet, I didn't want a picture before hand to spoil my surprise. They have a promotion that if you are the person with a certain type of vehicle to make a product that they haven't made before, they use your part for R&D and give you a good deal. Now they should have the dimensions for Thirdgens to make all kind of wheel covers in the future!
They offer endless options from leather, perforated leather, to alcantara. They also offer stitching in a wide array of patterns and colors. If you check out their website, you can see the wide range of custom pieces they make, and the vehicles they make them for.
I'm very excited to get this wheel back!

I shipped them my 92 Camaro wheel, and shifter and Ebrake.
Shipping too them was expensive at almost $80!! Since they are located in Europe. Since they don't have a pattern for my wheel, or shifter I'll get those wraps free, just paying for the installation.
I really hope these turn out well.
How long did it take start/finish for you to get your items back?

Re: Interior Refresh
Still don't have it back yet
Shipping is taking their sweet time getting it back from Europe...
For a time-frame reference, I shipped them my wheel on December 22nd, and I still don't have it back yet. It's on it's way, but still not here yet.

Mine is currently in transit to them as we speak, hopefully they get it within the next day or 2.

As for me, I'm still waiting for my wheel to get back to me. I've never had any mail take so long...

Re: Interior Refresh
I wouldn't even wait until Monday. I would contact Redline now, and have them look into it. I sure hope the items weren't lost.

Re: Interior Refresh
They're filing an "internal investigation" now. How long will it be before they give me some sort of answer, who knows?
