Speedometer removal
I really need to take out the speedometer in order to repair a broken spindle.
The steering wheel is off and all the screws are out of the white cluster moulding but that is about as far as I can go.
Any tips?

Re: Speedometer removal
you have to remove the entire cluster to get the speedo out of the housing,
after all screws are removed, and the two speed nuts down in the dummy light area, you must lay under the dash and release the speedo cable with a long screwdriver(or something similar)
that will allow the entire cluster to be removed, after that you remove the screws on the back side of the speedo to get it out of the cluster

Re: Speedometer removal
Thank you for all your help. I managed to get to the clip behind the speedo and it all came out.
Sadly the speedo itself has been cannibalised and the two driving spindles for the miles counters are missing. It is the twin speed version, so I would be interested in any parts.
The needle is broken off but that should fix with some glue.

I just found an 85 locally for €80 that is a complete unit with all the gauges and glass.
fyo that is about the same in dollars without the shipping.
Love this site. Keep up the good work guys.
