LS1 Charging System

I have attached an image of the LS1 charging system and I have two questions. First if you look at the diagram there is a wire that says "LARGE HEAVY GAUGE TERM". What gauge of wire would I use for that? Second, If you look at the connections between the PCM and the ALTERNATOR there is red wire going to the PCM at C1-15 but what about the gray one?

Re: LS1 Charging System

what year pcm are you running/ setting this up as? I only ask so I know what year car to pull up my schematics

using a 98 ls1 camaro you only use the L terminal output to the pcm and cluster, use at least a 10 guage wire of HIGH quality to the batt. just like your stock alt. had

if you need my schematic send me your e-mail

I looked up a 2002 as well and it shows the same thing just a little more clear. big red to batt small red L to pcm for turn on alt. signal. then pcm has guage out put

Re: LS1 Charging System

I'm going to set this up with a wiring harness from a 2001 Z28. As for the PCM I will just get any year from 01 or 02 with a t56 programmed into it. I'll pm you my email thanks.

Re: LS1 Charging System

I hooked the gray lead up to the brown wire that comes out of the stock Alt plug. It runs into the C100 on the firewall. Stock volt gauge works fine for me doing this.
