Mostly put back together, got 2 of the nissan skyline turbos while i was in japan. Came off of my skyline, which i blow the the engine due to my friends mis information. " Nissan never made and interferance engine" bull. ( valve Timing off turn engine over boom) Turbo look good. If anything i will use this a mock up ones and upgrade later. Just shooting for 5 psi for now. Should have brought my nissan gtIr pulsar (sr20det awd)back. Or do something different like a rb25det swap in my third gen. But love that v8 rumble.

Decide to mount the turbo in front out of the engine bay. Also decide to keep the truck intake and mounting hardware i wanted a cowl hood anyway.

Looks pretty good so far. The truck alt will still hit a cowl hood but relo brackets are too hard to make. Id suggest turning up the boost as 5psi wont give much in your 5.3. LM7's LOVE boost though so crank it up and hold on

Relocated the alt so i can use that cowl hood. So what you guys think? Think it will work? I used a straight edge to get the alignment right and use that bracket from my 305 for extra surpport. Also mounted the turbos inside the engine bay so i woundnt have to use a salvage pump.

No its bolted straight to the block with the two mounting bolts. I used that fender mount as extra surpport. I was going to have the bolt on the fender welded. @ Zones89rs I would have went sinlge believe me i thought about it. But i already had these turbos and its cheaper for me.

Re: Another 5.3 engine swap
Well, i decided to go back with the truck accessories. I got a hood from the junk yard for $29. And decided to cut it, then get a hood cowl for it. And weld it on or bond it if i go with a fiberglass one. Its cheaper than actually buy a cowl induction hood or ram air. I figure its cheaper to mod the hood than buy the f-body brackets and intake. Intake $50-100 with injectors maybe or maybe not. Power steering bracket $30-$50. Alternator bracket $80-130. Also the Corvette fuel filter and new line $? My choice hood $29, scoop $50-100. Plus weld or bond time, priceless My measurement for the cut was 15" W and 22"L. Well below the scoop measurement. If someone is planning on doing a 5.3/6.0 swap and your planning on getting a cowl hood or ram air. I feel confident say that the truck intake and alt will fit under that hood. Just be sure to check hood measurement, I'm sure a 2 1/2"-4" inch raise will clear.

Re: Another 5.3 engine swap
So my exhaust is done, but the car still wont start. Turns over strong, I checked the grounds not sure if have only three grounds have anything to do with that. I had a scanner hooked up to and it read the EGR valve of course since i blocked it. And the other was EVAP. Also i checked for spark(pulled a spark plug and turned it over) it was hard to see since i was also turning the key, but i thought i heard it. Any suggestion.

I had the vats bypassed. I was wondering, could there be something to do with fuel pressure OR the fuel lines? i have the truck intake so im pretty sure the 3/8 line is the feed and 5/16 return right?

In both the car and the PCM?
The supply line is 3/8". I don't have a truck intake anymore, but I don't remember the fuel rail having a return.

i bypassed the car and installed the vats module for the pcm, unless those things suck. But would the vats allow it to run for a few seconds then cut out or is that not always the case?

See if it runs a few seconds on ether
Depending on the year, truck fuel rails can be had in return or returnless

So your saying disconnected the pcm vats bypass module and then try it? Also does it matter if the pcm is not the original but still from a same year and engine?

For grins, we hooked up a 5.3 PCM (he had picked up an LM7 to swap into his '96 S10, then the S10 was totaled in a parking lot incident - he bought the Blazer with the insurance money). It wouldn't start.

So I got some starting fluid and sprayed it in there, and it fired off for a few seconds. So that means im not getting fuel, so it would be vats or really dirty clogged injectors. guess i need to rechecked that vats module. Could there be anything else

Re: Another 5.3 engine swap
Did you hook up a fuel pressure gauge to see what kind of fuel pressure you're getting to the rail? How are you regulating fuel pressure? are you using the vette filter? or are you using an adjustable fuel pressure regulator? a fuel rail with a built in regulator and return port? what kind of fuel pump are you running? LSx engines need 58 psi at a minimum to run

How you been Mr. Krazefbird? How much longer do you have here? As for my car its almost there the vats and pcm are relative easy to fix. Should have just done this the first time and have the Vehicle Anti-Theft programmed out. You should swing by to check it out.

Solder
Extend the engine harness side, you cannot extend the HO2 sensor lead because it uses stainless wire and solder will not stick to it. Crimping is never a permanent solution

Did you ever get VATS tuned out of the computer yet? Have you thought about getting a mail order tune? to gets VATS tuned out and I'm guessing the computer would also need to be tuned for those turbos too but i'm not sure.

Well, it seems that nothing is going my way. i got my PCM back today and when i installed, i felt good thinking i was going to hear my car run nope. So im back where i started at. Sand and Street told me that my pcm was reflashed and that they ran it on a one of ther engines. Maybe i need to recheck my wiring? Can O2 stop it frrom running? Could there be anything im overlooking?

Re: Another 5.3 engine swap
I'm currently pulling my car in and out of the shop with no o2 sensors installed since I have open manifolds right now. It still starts up and idles well but I cant go much past 10% throttle without it running like crap, so yes it will start without them.
To check the injectors just put a test light on the negative terminal of the battery and turn the key to the ON position and check to see if they are getting power, the same goes for the coils.
Whether they are wired to the correct spots on the PCM connectors is on you.
