B model Lt1 possibly
I recently got somewhat suckered. I was told I was getting a 97 z28 lt1, after pulling it apart some it has iron heads casting #10125320, block is #10125327 also the timing cover looks as the second style cover(guessing a 95-96 variation). It doesn't have the crankshaft sensor, but does have the larger holes. From my research it seems the only real differences are the iron heads, different fuel runs on the intake, and cam. Is that all? If that is the case I am assuming that I can grab some aluminum heads and intake with fuel runners off a F-body. Just trying to verify before sinking more money.
Thanks in advance.

Excuse my meanness but did you not see that the heads were not alum?
Ok back to the subject, Yes Iron heads. From what I have been told they flow a tad better and can be made to flow pretty good when ported. The differences are of course that its iron headed. Dual knock sensors, smaller torquey cam to haul those B-bodies.
The cover is most likely a 94-95. 96-97 had the crank sensor.
Fuel rail I would assume is the same? Gonna let someone else chime in for that.
If I recall you can bolt on Fbody stuff but I would research on compression differences too when switching over.

Re: B model Lt1 possibly
I saw the block is the same. The intake I have not been able to confirm. The heads are obviously different. Cam is different more torque less hp. What i have also read is that the crank is the same. If these are the cases. I should be able to bolt all f body items on with no problem. To include all accessories, and water pump. I don't need the crankshaft sensor, I wouldnt use it anyways. I am stripping this to the block, and going thru it. Changing cam, porting heads and intake. Just trying to confirm what else I would need to change. Yes it was my bad for not paying more attention to the engine, being it was a good deal, local, and a lt1 which is what I was looking for, with the intention of stripping it down anyways.
Thanks for the replies

Re: B model Lt1 possibly
The short block is identical.
Difference's between B-body and F-body LT1's (year for year) are the obviously already stated ones.
-All F-Body's had aluminum heads
-All B-Body's had iron heads
-All F-Body's cam shaft's had higher lift and duration for higher HP
-All B-Body's cam shaft's had lower lift and duration for better torque
Intake manifolds are the same.
Fuel rails are slightly different but can be made to work on either setup.
