6.0 ls richmond 6speed swap
hey guys im looking to swap a 6.0 ls in my car. Its currently a 358 cubic inch smallblock with a Lakewood scattershield and Richmond 6 speed 26 spline with a McLeod clutch. I want to put a carb 6.0 in it. Which I know what I need for the swap but what do I need to do to mate that trans to that engine the most simplist way. Could I still use my scattershield or no?

Read the LS1 swap sticky at the top of the forum to learn what it takes to put the engine in. Why carb? These engines shine because of EFI
A SBC scattershield will still work on LSx engines. 26sp input means any common LSx clutch will work. The catch is you must measure and likely shim to achieve proper depth as the SBC vs LS1 BH depth changed which affects where the disk rides and where the pilot bushing/bearing contacts the shaft. Most SBC manual transmissions are too short for a standard bushing/bearing and require the cadillac (LS2) bearing that rides in the large TC recess instead of the small pilot bore
