1991 Z28
I got this in Chicago yesterday. Its the 350, auto, (GU5, G80, G92 Rear) Has 4 wheel disc, dual cats, A/C power drivers seat. No 1LE option though?... and a bit of wheel lip rust. $1500. Drove it 10 hours home.

Geeze I paid $1150 for my car and half the emissions and other stuff to make it run wasnt even on the car. And my interior isnt half as nice as yours and the dash is cracked. But at least mine doesnt have ANY rust so you give and take some I guess. But you got a heck of a deal.

Yeah, thats what I was thinking. That wheel lip is no huge deal to fix anyways. I figured it is a damn good base considering that is really the only rot. The drivetrain is why I drove so far. Original asking price was 2500

So, The time is approaching. What is the best way to fix the wheel lip rust? Buying a whole quarter seems ridiculous, but the radius would be right. Is the easiest option? I wouldn't hang the whole new quarter, just swap wheel lips. Maybe from the body line by the hatch glass down. Suggestions are wanted, because money will be pouring out soon haha.

Don't under estimate the amount of work to fix the wheel lip. It's a lot more complicated that doing a simple flat patch. You might want to look behind the ground effects in front of and behind the wheel. What you find (or don't find) there might influence your decision.

Exactly what I was thinking, if the rust is that bad. Check the floors. Rip out the interior and have a look from both sides. Its a Chicago car, and has decent miles. Why order SFC's before getting the rust fixed? Seems kinda goofy to me. Fix the body and eliminate the rust problem then start upgrading from there.
I would not consider it a deal at this point. Everything about the car basically makes it a rusted body purchase. Rear is worn, motor/trans looks to have been ran pretty good. So its all just seeing how much patience and money you have now.
Still from the outside it looks clean, I would personally rip everything off it and check more areas for rust.

I will look deep and hard for more rust and get back to you in a few hours... There isn't any where the wheel lip and firewall meet for sure, and I actually ONLY ordered sub frame connectors for this reason. I'm not really sure what I have yet... I will actually look around it today.

The lady told me a bunch of people looked and then left. I called her when the asking price was $2,200. I offered $1,500 if she still had it in a week. Still did so I went and got it lol. And I looked all over under the car for rust, most of the floors still have a god coating of undercoating on it. There is a tiny bit or flaky metal at a seam on the passengers side. The spare wheel well is solid, still has a nice round drain hole, and the trunk pan is also solid. No rusty surprises.... The rear hatch though DOES need to be replaced as well. The deck lid specifically is rusty underneath.

Oh wow I guess you got lucky! Although that undercoating MIGHT be hiding something but if everything else checks out well like you mentioned then its probably fine.

It was, I got the rebuild brochure from whatever company. (Cant remember off hand). I wanna say it was rebuild when the body's mileage was 170k? The trans was rebuilt about 1k ago too... Oil pressure is at 60psi when started. Once the engine is heat soaked it idles with just shy of 30psi pressure... And moves quickly up with engine rpm's... Runs good!

Why didn't you purchase the set from Founders Performance instead since you purchased non-adjustable sets anyway? There is a thread on here and myself included are very happy with their products and they are very easy on the wallet. As for the Wonderbar, I plan to pick one up from an Iroc since they can be bought for almost next to nothing.
Good purchase on the welder, Fun things will come with it.

So here is ANOTHER dilemma. The stock cats have to come down to put in the Subframe Connector. One is rattly, and is junk. The pipes are in very good shape. So, do I buy the replacement dual cat Y-Pipe (Magnaflow has one for $372). Or do I buy headers and use a replacement Y-pipe and High flow Cat. What is the power difference? Would it even be noticeable?

I heard headers always pay off compared to the factory manifolds... especially with a bigger engine like the 350. But don't take just my word for it.

Hmmm I wonder if I should get a beefier panhard bar. When screwing around in my TA (power slides, donuts, etc) I could swear that I can feel the rear axle moving around a little. And I was able to see small spots of bare metal on both rear wheel wells from what appears to be the tires briefly rubbing against em. This is near the bottom front, where clearance is barely an inch between the tire and the metal.

Yeah same here! New rear shocks did help that problem pretty well but there's still some of that "bounce." I'll try a beefier panhard bar sometime.
