She's sure a glossy thing. Far less orange peal than my original paint.

Yep, she had a quick repaint circa 2007-2008ish via the previous owner (my uncle)

F-ing BEAUTIFUL Sport Coupe. Just me, but, I approve of a SC before an Iroc or a Z28 any day. God this is a sweet looking ride!!

Thanks! I prefer them as well, and look for them soon. I have some plans for both

As requested: engine and a few more interior pics. Also got some new tires, Firestone Firehawk Indy 500's! (engine bay is kind of dirty)

Yeah usually the black out buckets looks good on our cars, but I think yours looks much better with the body color.

Re: My 86 sport coupe build (pic heavy)

Hey guys! I know it's been a bit, been pretty busy with other projects, such as stuffing a motor into my dad's 67! Nice hot-rodded 230 I6, lot of cam, lot of compression, lot of fun! Paired with a 3000 stall th350 and 4.11's, she will be buttoned up pretty soon

Re: My 86 sport coupe build (pic heavy)

In other news, the sport coupe went to the GM nationals! Snatched 2nd place in the class, meet a ton of cool people, including TK1986IROC! So here is what we have going on for it, I got a performer rpm intake at Carlisle, which will be ported and have a bit of the plenum divider milled. Also picked up a 600 double pumper to go along with it, blown apart on the kitchen counter, fun fun!

Good stuff. And Congratulations on the award at the GM Nationals!

Personally, glad to see your Dad's car built with the old 230. Should scoot pretty well, and always more interesting to see at shows.

I like the Van's style checkerboards. Nothing wrong with driving an 80's car wearing 80's shoes.

So few updates, black buckets are back! I also scored a sweet set of berlinetta turn signal lenses and clear side markers, looks sweet
(Please excuse my awful photoshop trying to delete an electric box that photobombed me, lol)

Not a huge Mustang guy, but that '82 above, I'm thinking that's not a Mustang front bumper cover. Isn't that from a Mercury Capri from about the same vintage? Haven't seen a Capri in years.

It's a stock bumper. I think they used them before '85.

SC looks awesome! That 82 is pretty nice also. That bumper was used on the 79 Cobra and Pace Car, then on the 82 GT only.

This thread needs a smoke show pic!

Re: My 86 sport coupe build (pic heavy)

I replaced my front amber turn signals and threw on the Berlinetta clears after I saw a GM 1987 Camaro LT promo shot with them on the car. Last minute cancellation of the clears so they threw on the ambers. Prefer the clears good call on your part.

For those of you that follow some of my little side projects, just fixed up the spare rally wheel for the 67, turned out good! I'm thinking of redoing the Iroc's again, they need polished again and I'm thinking of going lighter on the insert color (probably stock)

I like the color on the IROCs. I think if you do them lighter, they won't POP against the red so well.

Well I'm thinking she's about done for the season, gave her a bath today, possibly the last one of the year. That means I can start on winter projects soon though, including exhaust, lowering springs, posi rear, and possibly trans upgrades!

I'm not usually a fan of red but your car pulls it off. Lowering will even add more of a look.

What exhaust you have planned?

Thanks, doing a single 3" with a moroso spiral flow dumped under the car. Making a real y pipe for the long tubes, as opposed to the crap I have now

Then I decided to repaint my block that will become the 383. Now a dark metallic grey, ready to start building this winter! Got my workbench all setup and getting ready to do some headwork soon.

Re: My 86 sport coupe build (pic heavy)

Winter update: not a whole lot going on with the project since it's been super cold and snowy. I have done a few things though. Put on a 1" 4 hole spacer and a new throttle bracket. As well as a little more exhaust work. Here's a quick video with some spiral flows mocked up.
