My 1988 sport coupe build
Hi all just figured I'd share the transformation of my 88 sport coupe from when I got it February of 2012 till now.
Here's when I first brought it home paid $800 for it. It had the original tbi 305 removed and replaced with a carbed 350 that had a flat lobe on the cam and a blown headgasket because of it.
So I picked up a cam n lifters for cheap and pulled the heads to replace the gaskets. I will never do this with the motor in the car again haha.
Then two weeks later it spun a rod bearing so I swapped in a built 327 I had laying around 11:1 compression pretty wicked cam aftermarket valve springs and retainers and some ported camelbacks.
Old motor on the stand.
New 327 on the cradle.

Re: My 1988 sport coupe build
Tore all the hvac crap out and removed alot of the unused tbi wiring.
Then I had a headgasket fail due to my hei distributor failing and giving me way too much timing so that mixed with the high compression caused it to fail.
I threw headgaskets in it and drove it nice till this last year when it came apart again.

Re: My 1988 sport coupe build
Got the motor back in and ran it for a bit it ran really strong and had no leaks so I went on with the mods. It had a nasty true dual 2 ¼ crush bent exhaust on it which had to go and I figured id ditch the manifolds at the same time so I ordered a set of hooker supercomp longtubes, a mufflex y pipe and a 4" bullet muffler for now.

That pretty much brings us up to current. Things I didn't list, 3 transmissions it ate and a pump in the current trans ,and it blew another headgasket right before last winter weights stuck in the hei. I also put in a custom stereo as well. Ill have to write up a complete mod list soon.
Here's a pic of how the car currently looks.
