My 1984 F41 Camaro
This is my 1984 F41 Camaro and I got it as my first car, it has the 2.8L V6 with auto trans, and the standard interior, the car had 68k miles on it when I first got the car and it was in great shape, very little rust, and was taken car of very well by the previous owner.
I'm looking for some ideas of things to do to is, so far I already had a rear spoiler on it and I'm looking at a new hood, if you have any ideas/recommendations, be sure to et me know, thanks

I had a 68 LeMans with the Overhead Cam 6 Cylinder & a 3spd manual that I sold last year - same thing, you would never see another one at any show you would go to.
Cool is a relative term but I think it's cool in it's simplicity.

I understand, are new wheels out of the question though? i can't decide if i wan new wheels or to have mine sand-blasted and repainted white like they used to be, i also need a hood, someone who previously owned the car cut out the frame and support from the front 2 corners of the hood so ill need a new one, should i go aftermarket or stock?

It's your car and you can build it any way that makes you happy.
If it were mine, I would replace the hood and refinish the wheels. I think you'll be surprised how well received it is when you bring it out. Back when these cars were new & I had just gotten my 87 IROC a guy I worked with (who didn't have one) said that IROC's were like ***holes, everyone had one. In your case nobody else does.
Enjoy it, no matter what you do with it!

That's a great looking car as-is. Congratulations on your purchase.

You've got something there. Don't mess with it. I wouldn't even add the spoiler.

Nice car man. Id maybe repaint the rims and that's about it. Looks good how it is and an unmolested car is so much easier to work on that's a HUGE plus!

Yup! I agree with above. Keep her stock and unmolested. I have a 84 z28 l69 t5 and have molested the crap out of her. (that sounded bad) Its good work that i did, but, I am always thinking of going back to stock. I have everything still. Ultimately its up to you, but I'd keep her stock and original. be much much much more valuable down the road. Nice car man!

Re: My 1984 F41 Camaro
ok, I'll be the bad guy who starts suggesting engine mods.
Swap the heads and cam out of a 2.8 TBI S-10 (MPFI F-body may work to) This along with a carb rebuild / rejet will pick up about 25-30 HP and look completely stock.
Basicly this mimics the 2.8 H.O. used in the X-11, 6000, etc

Re: My 1984 F41 Camaro
Thanks for all the help guys, I'm thinking of getting the wheels refinished, i went with the spoiler, some minor add-on;s to the inside like the rear sun visor and trunk lock compartment, I'm also getting a new hood, the supports in mine have rusted away and been cut away, I'm thinking of going with a 4th gen trans am hood which they make for 3rd gens, or a slight cowl hood
here are the 2 hoods I'm looking at:

Re: My 1984 F41 Camaro
Thanks, any ideas on any exhaust for my car? it's super quiet, kinda sounds like some prius, sadly my car is a v6 so it has a limited inventory for exhaust that will sound good an muscular, not make it sound like a rice burner, any recommendations will be much appreciated

Did you say you have a spoiler on it now or you had a spoiler and took it off? If you need a spoiler without the brake light setup, I have a new NOS one that's never been installed and only needs paint!

Re: My 1984 F41 Camaro
Please don't modify it ! Those hoods would look tacky.
If you want an IROC-Z or Z28 with the spoilers and whatnot, sell this one and buy another one...
Base models that are still untouched today are so rare. I regularly check ads for 2nd and 3rd gen Firebirds and Camaros and most base models I find are either rotting parts cars or are already modified to the owner's...taste.
I can understand the urge to modify these cars with so many parts available, but it would be a waste of money and time. Use this money to maintain the car in perfect working order and enjoy driving it ! Take care of the rust on the lower edge of the door too.

You can use the 85 v6 y pipe too, its slightly larger then the 82-84s.

Re: My 1984 F41 Camaro
You could do a 3.4 swap, those carbed 2.8l had a ton of emissions & vacuum hose on them, the 2 barrel wasn't the greatest of designs. They made about 107hp. 3.4s had 160hp. You might be able to get a complete MPI intake & harness, seems like a lot have swapped them out.
If it was mine & I had a reasonable budget, I'd keep it stock looking on the out side & swap a stock 4.8-5.3l LS motor in.

Re: My 1984 F41 Camaro
I love the base sport coupes, they are so clean and simple looking, much more "muscle car" than the Irocs, which are more "sports car". If that were my car, I would refinish the factory wheels, add a factory spoiler, and exhaust. Then just enjoy it. It's unique due to the F41 option too... I love it! nice find. Good luck and enjoy!

Re: My 1984 F41 Camaro
What does the F41 option consist of? On my 84 sc I went to the junkyard & pulled the sway bars & front cradle brackets off of a z28. It handled very well. This was back in 92 when they were plentiful. The part circled in the left is what I added on both sides, holes were already there.

So sorry for this wayyyy overly late reply but from my knowledge the F41 package was the stiffer sway bars and a fancy ticker on the rear bumper that said F41!
