Did I buy a "restored" Camaro....
I am not saying my car is anything super special or amazing. But I wiill give a history...
I have owned 5 Camaros... my first car was a 85 2.8L v6 in the end of the 90s, then I moved on to a 94, a 2000, then a family car, then a cheap 2000 v6 Camaro, then my 1985 Z28. I thought it was a good deal, no special options, as I want to ultimately builts a 400ish hp v8/6-speed, great suspesion s car with t-tops. I am big on t-tops, even did a t-top conversion on a 4th gen.
So 2012, I bought a 1985 Camaro, it wasn't my exact favorite color, but had tons of good stuff, 1st, factory t-top/5-speed. Fresh paint, tons of new parts I could seet, and a new quadrajet carb(electric, for sale if anyone wants) It was good buy for the price so I jumped on it since it looked very well taken care of.
Pics day I bought it.
IMO was great, hence why I bought it, but not perfect.... brake issue, under the hood...
After I did a few things....

Well my intention was to go to a nice engine/6-speed, but 2 months after I bought it my wife became pregnannt with my 2nd kid, and right before she was born, the factory 305 started knocking bad. I parked it and the car overall has sat fr 2 years. I recently pulled the motor and started wanting to clean up under the hood(the worst part)
But as I go through it, I know it wasn;t a factory car but I see more and more detail that might have been a professional "restore" Just curious what others think, good/bad I might need to fix. Battery tray is busted, seems like a late 90s green paint, from like tahoes....
new post as I come across...

From the engine pulll...
The girls fault.... no pic oof the boy because he is always a blur...
What is wierd, from pulling the hood and center console... pics I pulled, seemed wierd to see rust and clean steel, and the center console is kind of carzy...
paint differences....
I bring it up as some stuff is amazing and great... and some stuff loodk to be 30 years old, then sometimes its great. Just curious what people think.... as sometimes I am overly ****...
Center console....

I would say you have a car that has been treated very well since birth . consider yourself lucky to have found it . after my 89 got T boned by a F250 I looked hard to find another decent 3rd gen. . many I looked at had been thrashed/beaten/abused/neglected in everyway one can imagine . (welcome to the overly **** club) take good care of your new baby . what are plans for the engine ? good luck with your project ...

Currently I am thinking of doing a year one crate 355... and really leaning towards new aftermarket fuel injection setup. But first I am really cleaning up under the hood.

I wouldn't say the car has been "restored" in any way. What I see is an inexpensive paint job that, as you know, was not an original color. Other than that, it appears to have just cosmetic dirt in the engine and interior. You appear to be starting with a clean slate and can replace the dirty interior components and clean the engine compartment. Good luck.

Not saying it's anything special, but looks like signs of primer on the bottoms of the hinges (non factory?) Also clean metal(no rust) under some bolt head. Like parts were replaced. Seems weird the bolt head would be rusty but the part look knew. As for the paint, behind tail-lights and door jams were fully painted, just not under the hood.

The reason I said inexpensive was because paint is easily seen on the moldings. The 1985 cars had a thin molding around the windshield. Yours is the later wide molding. The windshield could've been replaced at some point. Luckily, the molding can be replaced again and you won't have any paint on it.
The hoods were on the car when they painted at the factory, so it's possible that the primer you see is factory. The center console looks like it's in better condition than the surrounding carpet. It could've been swapped from another car.

Re: Did I buy a "restored" Camaro....
My 87 the console carpet is in a lot better shape than the floor carpet. and it is 100% factory. It might have come from an area the has low humidity levels keeping the console bracket from rusting. The hoods were installed before paint so so that primer on the hood is factory. there is a chance it might have been in a fender bender and some parts were replaced and then got the repaint
