New Member, New Camaro
Hey everyone, I just purchased this camaro about a month ago from a guy in Cali. It is a 1992 Camaro RS 25th Anniversary Edition with a 350 motor (work has been done to make it a 355). It has 99k miles on it with only 300 on the rebuilt motor. I love the look of this car and everything about it, but it is a project as the previous owner reved the car too high and now it needs new rod bearings. It is in great shape otherwise and has even had a manual transmission conversion done and custom cut hood.
I am torn between selling it to someone a bit more passionate about it than I may be at this time or spending the time and money to make it awesome again (when time allows). Wondering what your thoughts are and what you think this car can be sold for if I chose to go that route.
Thanks everyone

If your going to sell it then do it now before your hooked.
Once you become attached to it, its over.

I second Ron here. I just painted mine this weekend and it looked worse than most cars on the street before, but I have spent so much time on it that I would never consider selling this car. If money isn't a super big thing, as in you aren't living paycheck to paycheck, and you are somewhat handy, and don't mind a project, to me, those qualify you to keep it. There's a lot of people on here that are super knowledgeable and helpful, so this is the right place to be when in trouble.

Ha I just browsed over your add on craigslist! I thought it was an awesome looking camaro and if I had the spare change would almost definitely buy it. (I don't know why I look when I'm in college with no money and have two vehicles now)
From what I can tell, cosmetically looks to be in awesome shape. It's too bad for the rod bearings, but taking the engine out of these cars really isn't too bad.
If it were me, I'd definitely keep it and fix it up. It wouldn't be too hard to take the motor out and the top end apart, then send the bottom end to have the bearings redone. That would save you some money (but not time).

Shoot small block chevys are easy enough to find on the cheap. It would be just as easy to have the new motor ready to drop in as soon as old motor comes out. Or at least the short block into the car and swap the top end from the old motor

I just realized you are in Arizona. bubba why didn't you tell me this?
Any who, I know where you can get your hands on a 350 TPI from a third gen here in Phoenix for $300. Not exactly the same setup, but a 350 TPI is a pretty good place to start in my opinion. The only reason I don't already have procession of said motor is I am wanting to keep mine strictly a daily driver. If I go to a 350 TPI, it's going to lead down a road to which I will never return haha.

Re: New Member, New Camaro
Sorry all for the delayed response. I was out of the country on vacation for the last month. I have decided to fix the rod bearings and drive it. I pulled the motor last weekend and replaced the rod bearings, and now I am ready to drop the motor back in. It turns out that the guy who had it prior to me had a brace welded alongside the drive shaft and has energy suspension bushings and some other nice parts on it. Looks like he was trying to race it. Bearing #8 was completely spun. Looked horrible and was super flat and sharp. Cam appears to be okay. Should have it up and running this weekend!!
