Sick of moisture in parking lights? Step inside

I know this has been done by other members.. just wanted to share again for others who are unaware.

The reason moisture gets in the lights is GM did not do a good job sealing the back of the lights where the clear plastic meets the black plastic. Also, moisture can possibly get in through where the bulb snaps in through the old rubber seal.

Solution; Remove lights (10mm socket), apply clear silicone to where the plastic meets. Apply dielectric grease around the seal at bulb connection. Reinstall lights. Done!

We have had alot of wet weather lately and not a drop of moisture in the lights.

Also.. if the outside of your lights are oxidized, colorsand and buff them while they are removed.

Car is very dirty here but you get the idea

GM's recommended fix is to cut a small relief in the bumper cover lip just below the light so water won't collect.

That doesnt help much at all. On mornings when you come out and there is alot of fog or moisture in the air.. the moisture will still collect. The lights need to be completely sealed. The only way cutting that hole would help is when there is lots of rain water flooding into the light. Doesnt help with moisture collecting.
