1989 Firebird Formula Carburetor Conversion (from TPI)
So i bought a 1989 Firebird Formula 305 Automatic back in September. Only problem is that I think the fuel injectors need to be replaced now because of the minimal amount of power output it seems to show. I have already replaced the stock 2" exhaust with a 3" inlet and outlet single catback flowmaster american thunder exhaust, and I have replaced the o2 sensor. Replacing the fuel injectors would be an expensive task. I have heard converting it to a carburetor would increase power and would also be less expensive (I also know it would require more care, which i am well prepared for). Is it true that it would increase HP? If it is... Does anybody have any suggestions as to what carburetor conversion kit would be fitting?

I doubt simply changing over to a carb would increase horsepower.
The TPI 305 makes the power it does, in part because of the TPI system.
It is possible to make more power with a carb, but it is going to involve more than just changing to a carburetor.
And it definitely won't be cheaper to change over to a carburator.
You can get a set of 8 refurbed injectors and a gasket kit from Southbay Fuel Injectors for under 200.00.
I highly doubt you are going to find a carburator, intake manifold, fuel pump, and any other items needed for a conversion for under 200.00.

Ok, so if I stick with fuel injection, should I go with injectors with a higher fuel rate or average? I'm looking on auto zone and there are 48 pound fuel rate and 21 pound fuel rate for the highest fuel rate injectors
