85 trans am 45k or 145k
I finally went and got my first T/a after my senior year had ended. I got myself a 1985 trans am. As of right now i have the original title from when the car was first bought in 1985, along with some original paper work, I'm the second owner, and along with that I'll be posting updates and I repair, rebuild, paint, and do whatever else to this car.

Yeah, I'm shocked this car runs as well as it does for being 30
Years old, it has a rebuilt quadrajet, and the t5 trans has been rebuilt. Just yesterday i put new pads, rotors, calipers, and wheel bearing on up front. This cars going to be my daily so it's mostly small weekend projects until I'm ready to do some rust repair, and paint it. This car hasn't let me down yet, although it definitely could use valve covers and some gaskets, I did a basic tune up when I got it and cleaned the carb. I've put 500 miles on it since I got it last week.

Car: 1985 Trans Am
Engine: LG4
Transmission: 700R4

It's Possible
I also own an '85 Trans Am with the LG4. I bought mine in October of 2011 and the odometer showed 57k miles. I was a bit leery and thought it was more likely 157k miles. But the second owner, who hadn't had the car long, told me a story about how the original owner had passed away and the widow kept the car garaged for ten years. After a thorough inventory of the car I believe it was an actual 57k miles. As you get to know your car, you will lean one way or the other.

Re: 85 trans am 45k or 145k
Taking a closer look at your photos, I can see that the car has newer wheels, probably from a Formula. You're in luck if they are 16 inch as it is getting harder to find tires for the 15 inch wheels. Mine are the same salad cutter style but with black center caps. I also notice that the car has a later model rear spoiler. I believe that the only 1985 Tran Ams that got that would have been TPI cars. I'm always curious about Firebirds that have a trailer hitch. What can be pulled behind a Firebird? If you haven't found out yet, the speedometer in our cars is cable operated. If you want a speedo that will show you anything faster than 85mph, Hawks has a cable operated 145 unit. Otherwise you have to convert to an electronic cluster. I usually don't go over 85 much so I'm happy with it as is. It's just a part of what the Eighties was all about!

IIRC, the electronic speedo(gauges), Rear Spoiler and those wheels(16s N96) were all available in 85.The wraparound spoiler was a option in 85.
