My new project, 85 trans am
Well been a member for years now and found a 85 trans am not to far from me, guy bought it out of GA from original owner then a rod knock and he gave up, solid car no rust, 138,000 miles, for $600 not bad I think, I think its a ws6 cuz he pointed out the kind of wheels it had on it and car has 4 wheel disc brakes and the big sway bars, so my plan is just a 350 swap and paint and have fun, love the inter color and will keep that if I can find seat covers.

Tell us more
I also own an '85 T/A. Mine does not have the four-wheel disk brakes. Which makes me wonder, do you have a carbureted intake or the TPI? That would have been first year for TPI. I believe that was also the last year for the L69 motor. My car has the LG4, which is fine by me. I searched for two years to find a "water blue" color. I feel lucky that I got T-tops included. Living in San Diego, I see fewer and fewer thirdgen Firebirds. Many more thirdgen Camaros around here. The 1985 Pontiac under the hood is still mostly a 1984 model, i.e. headlamp motors, cable speedometer, those kind of things.
Enjoy it!
Enjoy it!

For what you paid, I think you got a pretty good starting point. If you're lucky, the SPID sticker will still be under the center console lid. This will show all the options that the car came with. Show us some photos from under the hood, if it's not too much trouble. I wish that my car would have had the TPI motor, but they have their own problems, so I'm not that sad.

Good starting point the interior doesn't look too bad carpet and seats recovered you should be in business. Great price and TPI is definitely a bonus! Good luck.

if you keep an eye on classic, they'll eventually offer a 20% off sale around the holidays.
one issue with recovering those seats is the seat foam, which is not available (far as I could find) new. the foam is attached to the seat frame on these. the driver's seat bottom always takes some beating and is likely wore down by now. it can be replaced with a good, used passenger seat bottom. the seat backs are not interchangeable. the foam pieces that are shown exposed on yours will come new as part of the new seat covers though.
