new from St. Louis
first time fbody owner as of several months ago. A nicely preserved 1989 firebird base model 2.8.
It would've been nice if it was a v8, but I had bought the car for my girlfriends kid, and now her mom won't let her have it (long story), so now its mine by default, and I enjoy driving it, and decided not to sell it since I probably won't get back what I put into it.
My goals are to keep it cosmetically as-is, inside and out, although I did tint the rear glass to help keep from sun damageing the interior on days I drive it to work, etc. I may do the side windows also, although I am not a fan of how tinted side windows look. I always put a sun-shade in the windshield and hopefully that will keep the dash crack-free. I hate how dash carpets look, but I may get one if that is the best way to insure against damage.
I've been doing google and bing searches over the last several months for here and other places on the net to get some of the minor bugs worked out one at a time. I still have a few issues left I want to take care of, I finally signed up here so I can see the attachments posted.
Would love to have any info if there are any firebird/pontiac clubs in the st. louis area.

Re: new from St. Louis
Is that radiator correct?
I guess I've never really looked at a V6 car but it looks like the cap and hose have swapped sides from ever other one I've seen??
Always thought the V8 and V6s had the same rad..
Nice clean car either way!

Re: new from St. Louis
thanks guys!
the radiator is correct for a 2.8. Thats one of the things I replaced, along with water pump, hoses, t-stat, etc.
I'm actually pretty familiar with the fbod's v8 radiators as they are a popullar conversion for the turbo-buick crowd.
The plastic tanks and aluminum core are alot lighter and cool much better than a turbo-buick stocker.
and its a direct bolt-in (minus the buicks oil cooler)
I just installed alum rear brake drums and alum gto drive shaft today.

Interesting arm rest on the consol, looking good nice candidate for a 350 swap

Re: new from St. Louis
I'm keeping a eye out on craigslist local for a wrecked or rotted out 350 86-92 fbody to rebuild and swap the whole drivetrain. but I'm in no hurry.
If this 2.8 where to give me problems, I wouldn't even mind just doing a rebuild with a cam and some porting.
the console is from classic industries. I think it's for a 3rd gen camaro. I wanted a more comfy arm rest with a cup holder so I just use velcro to keep it "latched" down
