OH TAY !!
Bill
Truck Driver.
1988 Camaro Sport Coupe,2.8,Auto., T-tops.
I have had it in storage for the last 9 years (just got the rear-end rebuilt, now on to the interior).
Planing on getting the interior re-done, decent stereo, get the dents fixed and repainted eventually, use it for daily driver duty, but most of all get out and enjoy it!

Sorry about the late reply (I forgot I posted in here...OOPS!*LOL*)
I'm here in Manteca too,(used to live in Stockton) I have seen you running around town once in a while (I'm currently "incogneeto" riding my Buell XB9R-the red one, with the Hooligans sticker on the wind screen). I hope to get my camaro out of storage(it is at dad's place 400 miles north Beatty, OR.) in the next week or two, maybe three.

I will be sure to say hi ! (I kind of look intimidating on the bike, that is why I didn't follow you to say hi, you might have thought some one was "stocking" you) *LOL* . I'm thinking I might post up a GTG at one of the Sonic drive ins in the area (I know, not the best food, but the sundays are good !! *LOL*) or at Wally's (way better than sonic on any day !)

Re: Nor-Cal intro thread - Tell us about you and your 3rd gen!

1. Tell us your name
Jonathan

2. What do you do for a living (job/schooling)?
I work at a hotel and am in progress with a CAD/CAM Design and manufacture degree from College of the Redwoods.

3. Tell us what 3rd gen. you have (want)
I have a 1989 Camaro RS that is in rough condition currently. When it is delivered here to me in Eureka I can start tearing into it fixing, painting and swapping out whatever I can.

4. How long have you had it?
I had it for about a year a few years back when I lost the time and money to put into it. At that point I passed it off to my stepdad as a project. He never got around to doing anything with it. Since it was sitting and still needed the TLC that it deserves it is coming back to me as a Christmas/birthday gift.

5. What is your goal with it?
Mostly just to get it back into working order and start enjoying it again. I just bought a cool paint/U-pol liner combo for it. As for the rest? I suppose I will cross that bridge once I can drive out to it.
Here are some pics That I have for the planning phase of the project…

Hey Jonathan nice to meet you. My advice on the car is do what you want to it. Do it once and do it the right way. That way you dont spend money that you didnt need to. it'll be a fun car. Welcome to the site

Thank you. I really do want to try this liner mixed with color coat. I saw how fast the salt in the air damaged my Buell and do not want that to happen with the camaro. I have put quite a bit of time making sure that it will work as far as adhesion and coverage issues. I am most unsure as to how the color will look. I got a really great deal on the materials so I am trying a much flashier color than I normally would. Worst case scenario, spray over with a different color. Thank you for your reply and I look forward to using this site during the build process.

Thanks. Yeah, I already sent a pm to get on the list. Definitely interested on going to some meets next year. I understand that there is one in Fresno just for 3rd gens. Hopefully my car will be ready by then.

Nor-Cal intro thread - Tell us about you and your 3rd gen!

Howdy fellas,
Im Jake, Im an aircraft and helicopter mechanic here in the East Bay, Oakland, Hayward, Livermore, Concord. Currently Living in Hayward, but my Shop is in Livermore. So im between the two place a few times every day! I just picked up an 85 Trans AM 305 TPI Automatic. I was not in a position to buy or want one of these but it was a pretty dam good deal. So ive been working on it a little since i brought it home last week. Oil change, plugs, tune up etc. She runs pretty good but i can tell she was abused in her younger years. I might try to flip it, or hang on to her till spring and enjoy the T tops some! Im always looking for parts. Like some 4th gen seats, I need to find a new 140 mph gauge cluster, this ones all different kinds of busted. gonna go wrap the deteriorated headliner in some new fabric and hopefull make it look decent for 12 bucks! She has a recent aftermarket paint job and some Enkei wheels but one wheel is a WS6 rim that doesnt match, so ill be looking for 1 enkei snowflake or 3 WS6 rims to match eachother. ANybody in the area parting out anything like this let me know!

Re: Nor-Cal intro thread - Tell us about you and your 3rd gen!

1. Tell us your name
Josh. Currently I'm in Castro Valley, but I'll be moving to the Tracy area in another month or two.

2. What do you do for a living (job/schooling)?
Just got back from Iraq where I was a private security contractor. I've been in law enforcement (of some kind or another) for about 13 years now and I start working in Tracy tomorrow. Small stint selling Hondas and V-Dubs up in Vacaville for awhile, too. Mostly law enforcement. Cop, bounty hunter, merc for hire.

3. Tell us what 3rd gen you have (want)
Proud new owner of an 87 Camaro V8. I've wanted one of these since I was in middle school. I remember the first time I saw one. It was a white IROC and black racing stripes with those 5 spoke chrome rims. It was love at first sight. Not sure why I got into imports for so long (Civics for a year or two, but mostly WRX's and 240sx's for drifting). I had a 70 1/2 'maro for awhile, but it just didn't do it for me.

4. How long have you had it?
About 15 hours now.

5. What is your goal with it?
It's going to be my commuter for awhile while I do some small tinkering here and there to get it a bit more reliable. Small hiccups here and there and some really messed wiring (why do I have a switch that I flip when I smog my car and what are my windshield wipers doing on a seperate switch on the side of the dash?? LOL) that I want to get fixed before I start working on mods.
Future plans are simple. Bolt on engine mods, some suspension upgrades, redo interior (dash and headliner are pretty bad right now) and some nice paint/wheels. I don't want a street beast or a show stopper. Just a nice daily ride that has some *ohmph* for those pesky Honda boys

Pics as soon as my camera finishes charging :P

Re: Nor-Cal intro thread - Tell us about you and your 3rd gen!

Thanks, mate. Here's some quickies that I took. The original color was dark blue, but someone took it down to the metal. I'm prolly gonna rattle can it flat black primer until I get my own place and another commuter so I can DIY paint it proper.

Now to figure out why there's white smoke coming out of the air intake >.<

Yup looks like she needs some work there huh? Will be nice someday. Just do what you can and do it right the first time. Now how is that interior? doesnt look too shabby in the pic. I notice seat covers tho? some 4th gen seats will bolt right in.

Re: Nor-Cal intro thread - Tell us about you and your 3rd gen!

The seats aren't *TOO* bad. Minor rips and such. The seat covers were more for preservation. Dash and headliner are more in need of attention first. I was thinking about going leather? All in all, she's pretty clean, my Cami Camaro

EDIT: Well, she's clean for a 1.3k car lol

Nor-Cal Networking - What do you do for work?

After our last GTG I thought this may be a good idea for networking and club building.

If you work somewhere, or can provide a service/trade/skill that may be beneficial to your fellow 3rdgenners, post it in here along with any location or contact info you wish to include.

Does not have to be car related, or have any discount involved, but that's always a bonus!

My full-time job is not a resource to list, but I also do computer repair part-time for a reputable mobile company in Sac and have my own clients for side jobs too.
If I can't fix it, I'll get you a referral to somewhere that can.
