15x10 with 6.5bs anyone running?

Is anyone running a 15x10 with 6.5bs? I know the accepted size is 5.5bs but trying to see if I can tuck them a little more before buying a set of rims. Got the bumpstop area cut out and a flat piece of steel welded in along with offset LCAs and the front area has been beat a ton. I don't mind cutting out the front area and welding in more plate steel if needed. Looking at a drag radial class where I could run a 325/50 M/T drag radial.

Never tried them but people have to hammer the inner finder to get 5.5bs to fit good.

Re: 15x10 with 6.5bs anyone running?

I have 15X10's with the 5.5" back spacing with 28X13.5 ET Streets. I had to do some pounding on the inner wheel well as well a trim the bolts on the lca's. I think it would need a lot of clearancing to go with 6.5 backspacing.

Re: 15x10 with 6.5bs anyone running?

Well there's someone on another forum looking to do a 325/50 with 6.5" bs and a 1/4" spacer and he sounds like it should go on easily. Right now he's running the 325/50 with 5.5bs. I really wish I could find pics of a vehicle with the 5.5bs and see their clearance with a bigger tire like this from underneath especially showing shots of the front area, LCA spacing, etc etc. A 325/50 is 13.4" of section width and over 11" of true tread touching the pavement across. It is similar in size to a 10.5W tire.

Re: 15x10 with 6.5bs anyone running?

Just mini tubb it.
15x10 with a 6.5 BS.

but as I said The wheel wheels were cut out and mini tubbed.

Sold these rims and plan to put a 17x11 under it with a 315 next.

Im sure it could be done with a BFG (Big FKeN Hammer) also.

so this is a 6.5bs on there and it fit no problem? Of course it's been mini-tubbed but how much area did you add to it? Which tubs did you end up going with? I was looking at the wolfe racecraft pieces that they have for 4th gens which I have been told will fit 3rd gens with a little work.

Re: 15x10 with 6.5bs anyone running?

Yes its a 6.5 BS. and quite a bit was removed actually. Like I said i want to fit a 315 or even a 335 if I get wider rims.

Dono what tubbs they were as i got em from a buddy who is totally redoing his car to a 25.5 chassis.

Here are some pic's before everything was removed form his and I did mine.

All Im using are the tubbs. none of the other sheetmetal.

Re: 15x10 with 6.5bs anyone running?

I have 15x10s with 6.5bs and a 275/60 Hoosier drag radial. Just had to cut the hump out kind of like a c notch or like a mustang to get the clearance i desired. Also beat and cut some of the front on the inner fenderwell. Doesn't stick out past the outer fender looks awesome.

do you have any pics that you could post of either the clearance on the inside or perhaps the back of the car or the side of the car with these rims on?

how much clearance do you have all around proxemics? on the inner portion I mean. Not to mention the tire I'm planning on mounting will be probably 3" wider than yours.

I will get some pics of mine this weekend and get them posted. My car is not finished yet. Stopped mid stream on the project and switched motor setups and then run low on cash. Hope to finish very soon.

Not sure if your still looking but I just got done installing mine. 15x10 6.5 bs with a 295/65 drag radial. Slightly rolled lip, some work to the front of the wheel wells and removal of the bump stop hump.

wheel spacers are nhra prohibited (least from what i remember)

if your car doesn't run 7's you're just as g*y as anybody else not running a tt5 or smaller

They are wheelie bar brackets. I run the bars once in awhile while testing just incase my changes don't work. Once the cars is dialed in I remove them since they are illegal in the drag radial classes I run. Once in awhile I miss the setup and it ends up on the bumper which is always fun.

Those are 15x3.5 with 26x4.50x15 M/T front runners. It looks better when the motor is in the cars so the gap isn't so big up front. I also have a pair of 15x4 with 205/70/15 for use on the street.

Nice looking car radialtireking! I was just wondering if you had a closer shot from the back but more on one side of the car to see where the tire sits in comparison to the fender lip. Does it tuck up in there? Also this might be a dumb question but i have never removed bumpstops will that be a problem if I do that to make room for a larger tire if i still want to drive it on the street? Thanks for the help.

I will take a better pic for you later today. The tire tucks completely under the car. I have close to a 1/2" between the lip of the quarter and the tire. My car gets driven plenty on the street and no bump stops have not been an issue. The back of my car is fairly stiff and never was close to touching them anyways.

Did you have any interference with the LCA's? are they offset or did you not have any problems with them? Thanks again

i'm sure they'd have to be offset LCAs with rod ends.

They are spohn LCA's with rod ends. They are not offset and I have about 1/2" of clearance. I wouldn't run it that close with a bias ply but the radials don't flex around much so it's no problem.

Re: 15x10 with 6.5bs anyone running?

Thanks for the quick reply! I was wondering if you know if there is a difference in size between the rod end LCA and Poly bushing style in size or would i roughly have the same clearance? I am looking at running a little smaller tire than you ( the 275/60 )so that would also give me like a 1/2 to 3/4 inch on each side more play. Thanks again for the help

i don't think you'd have a problem. i ran a 275/60 on a 10" wide wheel with 5.5" backspacing and i want to say i had 2" plus with the factory lca's.

Is your cage custom? If not where did you get it at? What other mods are done to your car? I noticed a different axle for sure. I have a white 84/85 berlinetta that I wanted to do a street/strip car with.

Wow this is an old post. Yes the cage is custom. It has Been updated to 25.5 specs since these pictures were taken so it's legal to quicker than 8.50. The rear is a 9" ford and pretty much every part of the car has been modified in one way or another.
