First round of the last race of the summer season, last class I was running in. I had won in the previous class, bulbed in this one, then it let go about 700 ft down track. First time I've ever had to be towed back to the pits.

Since I couldn't go on, I missed making the track team for the Division V Summit ET Finals in two weeks. First time since 2002 I haven't been able to go. And, it's at our home track this year to boot.

It's out of the car, to the shop tomorrow morning before I head for the airport, should be ready Friday morning so I can put it back in and be back to the track Friday afternoon. I'm in 5th place in that series with two races remaining, 3 round out of first place.

I did drive it into the borrowed trailer and into the garage.

Ouch. Ring and pinion teeth is something I've never broken yet. The gear set currently in my diff is Richmond Pro gears. Lightened, deburred and polished.

These were put in 5 years ago (basically 6 seasons on them), I'm sure at least a thousand passes, maybe 1200-1300. With the nitrous, it was pitting 520 HP against 3900 pounds (only a dozen passes, and hadn't used nitrous all weekend). I'm trying to remember what brand they were, American I think. I'll be sure to get something good in this time. The choices aren't exactly plentiful with an 8.2" 10-bolt, though.

Ouch nice work man and I'd say you got your money's worth out of them. Maybe time to upgrade to sompthing a little stronger?

It's the old question of spending x dollars to fix what you've got, or 4x or 5x to get something better. In this case, time is a factor to get back to the track this weekend, which even 5x wouldn't do. So, for now, new gears.

By the way, your axles are holding up fine in the Camaro. . .

Dropped the rear off at the shop on my way to the airport this morning. Just heard from them, it appears the carrier broke.

Guess we'll be switching from PowerTrax to an aftermarket posi.

Back together with a new Auburn posi, 4.11 Richmond gears, all new bearings and seals, tubes welded.

Now to get it back in the car in time for gate opening tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m.
