Roughly whats the price for the front and rear? I'm really interested. And about how much to ship to 92833.

Re: Optic armor glass

Price is determined by thickness and whether you go with the drop-in black-outs or our oversized windows.
DIBO: 1/4" = 570.00, 3/16" = 500.00, 1/8" = 450.00
1/4" OR 3/16" on the front depending on speed and bracing, 1/8" or 3/16" is standard on rear

Oversized: 1/4"=470.00, 3/16"=400.00, 1/8"=350.00.

Re: Optic armor glass

Black-out refers to the perimeter edging or trim that we apply, this allows the DIBO'S to be glued into place.

We do offer all our windows in 3 different tints: clear, 38% lite tint, 18% dark tint.

Re: Optic armor glass

the factory rear glass alone weighs 53lbs.
Optic Armor's Rear 1/8" is 12lbs

Factory front glass weighs 36lbs
Optic Armor Front 3/16" is 17lbs

thats 60lbs off the top of the car, which allows for lower center gravity, better handling, and quicker chassis reaction.

Re: Optic armor glass

Just worried the rear hatch function would be negated as one member already said he couldnt get the frame to work well. I would like to retain lift struts if possible but i am sure the lighter glass would be too light for the factory struts anyway like fiber hoods are with steel hood lift struts

Re: Optic armor glass

correct, the factory struts are designed to hold up 100lbs, needless to say they would be serious overkill with an Optic Armor window so they need to be removed

Re: Optic armor glass

I'd bet worn out struts would work just fine on the lighter glass.
Same goes for my aluminum hood

Re: Optic armor glass

Even worn out struts will not work. The glass will flex with that attachment point with the deck lid installed.

Even off the car they are pretty flimsy. I have 4 dzus' hold it on with the factory hinges. One on each corner of the deck lid and one at each midpoint of curve on each side to prevent catching air at speed if they bowed out.

Re: Optic armor glass

just want to say I ordered from optic armor when they were still doing the initial production run, Jim and Aaron worked with me over several months while they were being produced. always kept me informed. they arrived in perfect condition.

I would not hesitate to buy from them

as of now I have the rear one installed in the factory location. still waiting to do the front. ill post some pics when I can get the car out in the sunlight and all the dust off it properly in about a week.

Re: Optic armor glass

I installed the rear glass 3/16 thick and had custom struts made. Put the frame around the outside from the original glass and it opens and closes just like factory.

I know this is an ancient thread but was wondering what were the difficulties you experienced attempting to put the metal frame around the window?
