rear pad recommendation for road racing?

What are you road racers using for a rear pad? I have hawk blacks in the back and I can say this is not a good pad for these cars. I have my proportioning valve all the way forward and I still lock the rears first. I'm using the stock PBR caliper.

No direct F-body roadracing experience here, but I do roadrace my B-body.
In general, rear discs need no help at all beyond the factory setup.
I'd at least go back to something like Hawk HPS pads, and maybe even regular stock replacement type semi metallic pads

Re: rear pad recommendation for road racing?

I have ran Hawk's hps pad in the past in a different car. Was not impressed with it at all, but it might work out for this application. How does it perform once it gets hot? Many pads tend to get grabby once hot, and thats the last thing i need.

I have heard of people using a street pad, but i fear that i will burn them off in one track day because street pads are just not designed for the prolonged elevated temps that road racing brings. Not only do they not last long, they also tend to take out the rotors by leaving huge pad deposits on them.

Everything you're saying I'd have to agree with, IF you are talking front pads. Regarding your concerns with heat and rotor wear, I just don't see it as an issue on the rears when they're doing so little work on a car like yours with heavy front bias.
I've never experienced grabbiness with HPS pads, front nor rear. They perform more similar to stock pads than to something like your Hawk blacks, except they're far more fade resistant than stock pads when they get hot.
