Mission accomplished...8.95 on pump gas

Finally got a good pull and got my goal of an 8 sec pass.
Very cold track day and traction wasnt really there for me. Left same settings on suspension boost and tire pressure as my 1.37-1.39 60's but car kept breaking loose at 10-20 ft out as you can see. Had to let out and get in it.
1.46 60'
3.85 330'
5.81 1/8 125.38
7.51 1000' 143.27
8.95 156.14 1/4

Still abit conservative but on pump 93 only with hotter iats than i like to see. So need to address some things

That massive tail wind probably helped also.

I've noticed big differences in a run from a tail wind to a head wind. Sucks when the wind switches around from early more time trials to afternoon eliminations.

I doubt it, car has more than enough power. Wind blows mostly right to left all day with few moments it shifts direction but i never noticed much difference in et out here

That is awesome! To go 8's in a full weight street car on pump gas!!!! I see Huge BBC cars running on C and Alcohol that struggle to get that. What does that car weigh? #3800!

Just noticed that you were pedaling it on launch - Still pull out an 8?!?!

Congrats !

Best of luck and try to keep it together
8s is where parts tend to fail without warning.
I know it's a "street car" but I hope you have a cage and a chute.

Stay safe !

Looking at a pro-charger myself in the next few years...

Re: Mission accomplished...8.95 on pump gas

On tranny number 3 and have either broken converter or front pump seal or something
Had multiple electrical small part failures, tune issues, and melted parts

No stranger to parts failure lol but gotta give credit to the bottom end, its holding well and i have no fear in it breaking as long as tune remains good. Still very conservative

I have only an 8 pt bar at the moment and know i will get crap for that but i have no intention of cutting car up more for a full cage but we will see. I have 13"/12" brakes with good track pads and hydroboost so brake power is more than enough to stop. No immediate plans for a chute

I believe once you hit 150 MPH a 'chute is mandatory. Same with ET, once you are faster than 9.90 you need a full cage and the 'cage must be certified for the ET you plan to run. Even if you just plan to "test" at the track the facility will eventually "know your car" and not let you run anymore without the necessary safety equipment.

Re: Mission accomplished...8.95 on pump gas

I am trying. This car has been very stable at high speeds. I keep the 255/18 tires up front and radial rears, stiff springs, it feels very well grounded. Its actually boring to me after 60ft and 1st gear lol. Just stays straight and smooth

Re: Mission accomplished...8.95 on pump gas

That's what you want, you can't ask for more.

You might see some improvement using front runners at the track to reduce rolling resistance.

I drove mine to the track for years when it was a 12 sec. car.
that was fun but in hindsight I was very lucky to only get towed home once.

i think thats what im going to shoot for also. at least for awhile. i dont really want to purchase another trailer (for sure not a open one) anytime soon. my normal routine was to get home at 10-11pm and then unload everything and put it in the garage. i hated that and im sure the neighbors did too. i wanted an enclosed to be able to just come home, get out of the truck, and walk in the house. but, an enclosed is expensive, takes up space, and something else to maintain.
i still have all my factory power steering stuff and a hydrobooster for the brakes i can put on the car. i have a track 6 miles away from here. seems like a no brainer to stick a tag on there at this point. maybe later i'll get an enclosed for the long trips.

Re: Mission accomplished...8.95 on pump gas

Better 60's today but slightly warmer out and trans may have been slipping, hard to say it seemed ok on temps but car seemed down on power. Probably some timing pulled out from hotter iat
Couple of 9.0's and one good pass slight spin, 8.93 at 156.

Also went 1.35 60 on a gate spring only pass. 9.40 at 145

Great job Justin! Glad to see the 8! I hear you though, I like driving mine all around town, driving to the track, turning heads, and driving it home.

Twin turbo Camaro goes 8.95 @ 156 at Pittsburgh Raceway Park. - YouTube

I love the fact that I could hear the turbo's spooling over the exhaust and that made the whole car just sound smooth. Fantastic run!
