Holy crap! Looks like the frame buckled. Kinda like the power in my Camaro.

[Vin Diesel] So much torque the chassis twisted[/Vin Diesel]

Sorry, I had to say it.

But that aside, that was indeed a wild ride. Its amazing how much downforce and weight is needed to keep the front end of the car down. When it snaps in half and you lose all that downforce and weight, that car just lifted up in an instant.

Re: WILD RIDE IN FLORIDA TODAY

looks like the down force created by rear & front wings snapped the chassis is half.

if there was no front wing I think the car would have flipped.

you can see the chassis bend in the center like an overloaded beam.

Re: WILD RIDE IN FLORIDA TODAY

Dragster frames are not solid. They have slip joint fittings which allow them to bend and twist. I haven't been following the story but it looks like the frame right in front of the driver failed. Taking all that weight off the front end and the downforce from the rear wing just sends it flying.

This early in the season and I wonder how good that chassis certification was.
