engine belly pan / engine containment

after scattering my engine, and now making plans to go faster, I'm going to need engine containment.

I'm already familiar with engine diapers, but I need ideas if I go with a pan.

I did a search and found alkyroc's, anyone else have pictures and advice?

What material? .050 3003 work?

The car has a stock k member, too, making it more fun...

Re: engine belly pan / engine containment

i would just call DRE and get a diaper. its way easy to install and they take a beating pretty well. there isnt a ton of room under these cars for a pan

I recommend Dennis from DRE for an engine diaper. All the NHRA sportsman racers will say the same.

Thanks for the recommendation guys. I just spent 40 minutes on the phone with Dennis, he recommended a custom one for me.

That is probably the way i'm going to go, but if anyone has pan pictures, please post them up.

Re: engine belly pan / engine containment

I tried a diaper on my engine when the rules said I needed something. With the BBC and the large tube headers, I couldn't make it fit. That's why I fabricated a belly pan.

Re: engine belly pan / engine containment

can't go wrong DRE. when I called him a few years ago, I thought I would need a custom make diaper but he told me to save the extra money. I have zero complaints. it touches the headers on both side and it hasn't melted. If i remember correctly I believe he said the will withstand up to 3000*F. Diapers work quiet well. I've seen multiple top alcohol engines explode and not a drop of oil on the track.
