How does one build a 9 second car that passes California smog? I thought even if you didn't "smog" the car, they pulled your tags ?

You don't.

It's registered in MA.

Another goal is to not break a rear end this year...

It's a simple fact that 10 bolts is two few...

Still don't know why the factory didn't do this. It makes so much sense. (Okay, maybe that's why they didn't.)

Get the 60' time down to the lower 1.4x's from current mid 1.5x's

Keep the crown for "King of Street" at the LTX Shootout True Street class.
Well no 9.99 yet but managed to have a 10.33 average in my True Street class at the LTx Shootout, and that was good enough for King of Street this year. So, the crown stays with me for 1 more year.

With 100#s off the front, twice as much power, and some new rear suspension mods to replace worn stock parts, it's going to be a completely different car.

Because I occasionally go to the drag strip with my buddies, I've also got a 1/4 mile goal of 12.9-13.1. I also hope to beat my buddy's 600hp 03 terminator. Car wise the odds are in his favor, but he bought the car recently and has no experience racing it or a car like it at a drag strip. Having made many passes at the strip I'm hoping to out drive him!
The year is not over yet but I do have some good updates.

I was able make my autoX goal with a 1:22.6 after bandaging some oversteer issues caused by stiffening up the rear end too much. Unfortunately, the track sold and the grounds will become an training site for electrical line workers.

As for the quarter mile, I've been once this year with decent weather and was able to bang out a 13.4 with a 2.0 60' on some 315 Nittos that stuck so hard I couldn't keep from bogging the launch. Going to try again before the years up. Going to try on the 275 street tires, should slip some to prevent bogging and less rotating mass. If the air is good enough I'm sure I'll make my quarter mile goal.

As for the 600hp termi, my assumptions were correct, as of now I've got him by about .1 of a second! LS1 powa!

Re: What are your goals for the 2016 racing season?

what was the MPH on the 13.4 pass? any way to air up the nittos some so you get a little tire slip out of them? i've found it is always easier when the tires want to stick to raise rpm or tire pressure than to go to a worse tire, but may be different at a lower power level. good luck!

I'll give them a try at a higher pressure. I think I ran then at 25 psi but it might have been 20 psi. I don't want to put to much in and bulge the centers of the tires.

Also still on the stock 4thgen 10 bolt with the torque arm on the trans so I probably could launch harder, I'm just scared of breaking it.

Thanks Matt!

Re: What are your goals for the 2016 racing season?

i'd definitely try that first. 105 mph isn't bad at all. that will go 12.7x's in a well setup car with a good driver. i'd guess 13.1-12.9 is totally obtainable with some practice.

you aren't running an aluminum flywheel by chance are you?

I don't think it has an aluminum flywheel, it's a stock drivetrain from an 01 SS. It has CAI, longtubes, and a trunion kit to protect it.

I am still getting used to it. Clutch feels completely different, factory Hurst shifter is noticeably longer throws than the true Hurst I had on the T5, and being scared of breaking it doesn't help either. I'm still paying off the card, can't afford to break it yet!

Re: What are your goals for the 2016 racing season?

Did not quite reach the goals for 2016.
We fell one race short. Finished with only two Super comp wins for the season , but did manage to end up in the semi finals more than 2015 and did finish 3rd in the "Get the lead out" Race.
which netted me my biggest payout to date.

Finally got the new FTI converter in and the car loves it. Definitely looking forward to 2017.
