Re: TurboTPI upgrade....Finally
Mine is the quietest at the track usually. The only problem is it can be impossible to hear what our own cars are doing next to a lot of cars. I do love outrunning those obnoxious open header trailer cars on occasion though! Long live the silent hissers!

Yep, still got it! Havent been out in the chicago street scene much the past few years, but thats fine with me. I just been enjoying the car, driving it the last few months as my daily driver. Literally, everyday rain or shine. haha

This is the first time ever not having the car on an open wastegate. I love it. So quiet and stealth. Just last night on my way home from work some young kid and his girlfreind pull up next to me at a red light in a loud, yellow 2000ish mustang, his girlfriend looks over at me and asked me if i wanted to race. I acted hesitant and said i guess so. I absolutly destroyed him. And he prolly couldnt even hear my car over his. Needless to say, he turned at the next possible road.

Got a cool sticker for under my hood. It should really confuse people at car shows that catch it. haha

Re: TurboTPI upgrade....Finally
Well, the trans started acting up in 3rd and 4th. It would slip in either gear if i get into boost. So i figured the 3/4 clutch is just finally worn out after years of abuse. It was fine during normal driving. None the less, i figured i should quit driving it just incase something lets loose. Didnt drive it for a week, then had to move it out of the garage for my sons 3rd b-day party, took it for a short drive and got on it in 2nd gear and pop. Car acted like its in neutral. Stopped it, nothing in any gear, no trans fluid leaking, and it make a whining noise when reving it in any gear. So hopefully, ill get it apart to see what happened this weekend. Thinking input shaft?

Re: TurboTPI upgrade....Finally
I forgot I had this thread going. Its been awhile. Well, where I left off, the input drum exploded in my 700r4. The car sat in the garage almost 2 years before I did anything to it. Between work, 2 kids, messing with my new daily driver, I finally got another trans put together. Its not built the way I really wanted, but I couldn't afford that at the time. So its pretty much the same setup I had. It lasted along time before, so I figure I'd be ok for awhile. So I get the trans in, go to fire it up, she starts like it ran the day before. I love this car, it just works. Its been together a couple months now and I've been driving it a lot. Trans feels good, all shifts are nice and firm. I'm planning on a trip back to the track in two weeks. I'm excited as I haven't been back to the track since the 76mm turbo has been on. Update to come.

awesome car. and love the videos.
i have referenced your car here: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/auto...ng-appearance/ btw. i hope you dont mind.
i've been really wanting to do something like this with my car ('89 Formula 350). i read in your (Pontiac HP?) article that you had a forged, low compression block on hand for your turbo build. mine is about a 9.5:1 with hyper-eutectic pistons. is that something that you can throw forced induction on?

Re: TurboTPI upgrade....Finally
You can run forced induction without a problem at 9.5:1. Obviously youll have to be alittle conservative on boost, but it can be done no problem. A matter of fact, my buick regal has higher compression pistons than stock, it is the same 9.5:1 that you have. With an m90 blower without intercooling i'm running about 10lbs of boost without detonation problems.
