the shop is presurized with filtered air , so open up a window or door on the side of the shop, and all the dirt/dust overspray goes away form the car and out of the shop , and no dust or dirt can be blown by wind into the shop


since the shop is also were my bitcoin farm is i have over 16kcfm of air being brought into the shop by the intake fans

im thinking about

emerald metalic green
chamelon
candy apple blue
candy apple red
or gunmetal

copper pearl which is close to the gm sunburnt orange is also one final choice

the clear is getting soft in the heat and allowing dirt to get embeded in it when it cools down at night the clear gets hard again

Clear coating and wet sanding won't do much for stuff falling into the paint.
I do cheesecloth it between color coats, but usually crap falls in the first layer of clear.

At least I don't use a paint roller and rustoleum like most forum members.

I thought you didn't clear it? So you did then, good. Make sure you clear it again next time around. What are you out for, a show car? I raced my GTA on the highway so much last year, the front bumper has so many scratches in the paint that I am not going to bother doing any show paint anymore because its not worth the effort with a driver, just Black, clear and polish. My cousin did give me an idea though with the paint to have some fun with, should be one hell of a good time on the highway if I decide to go through with it lol. Just need to drop another eight hundred on the 91-92 aero wing, can't find any used, so a new one from Hawks it is...

yeah the paint i used was bc/cc something wrong with the clear though

ill prolly keep it simple and go with a simple metalic this time around instead of a color changing pearl

Done both, and both work. The 7747 ECU actually has a purple wire that goes to the starter wire from the ECU that's usable if you're retrofitting a stock harness. Pretty sure that's what the TBI adapter board I have does.

For the Megashift it was a GPIO board. I don't think it was the assembly as much as the design of the circuit. There was some sort of parasitic harmonic that was being amplified. Lance seems to say there are "no issues" with it although I certainly got banned for asking about it.

Yeah, I could see the jumpers causing issues but IMO they are at some level a necessary evil. A basic table with everything summarized would make things a lot easier IMO. Just go through and do "choose your own ignition" based on the table entries and perhaps a pictoral diagram of the jumpers for each board/type that's standard.

Noise is always a spectre in electronics, and has to be carefully managed. I could see the fact that some of the jumpers above

Quite frankly if I didn't have an early 4L80E which uses the different PWM frequency I would have been very inclined to sell the mess and go to an 0411 with HP Tuners.

Dont bother with the GSX-R. You'll get it and immediately feel like your car will never be as much fun or as fast and its accurate. Riding my turbo'd 90 GSX 600 before crashing it makes most cars feel slow.

i was kind of thinking that myself , but damn i miss having a street bike , i live in the perfect area for having a nice streetbike, i dont think i would enjoy a cruiser enough to justify buying one though

They are crazy fun, very easy to screw up and unforgiving when you do lol. I'm more of a street bike guy vs cruiser, long distances can be tough on a street bike. I still have my bike but the wife wont let me ride it, unfortunately my area is very urban so most people dont know how to drive, dont have valid licenses or dont have insurance which sucks.

over the years theres been a honda cbr 600 rr , ninja 1000, ninja 600 and a katana 600 , most didnt last long due to were i lived at the time with to many idiots on the road

Nice! I was lucky, just alittle rash and a nice chunk of my hip missing which healed up with no stitches... not bad for flipping at 75+Mph on the highway lol.
Hmm CDR600 and ninja! My GSX 600 turbo is actually a katana 600. Very comfortable cruising street bike.

Used to blast back and forth from Queens to Jersey when I lived in New York City with my old Hurricane 1000, would do 100+ over the Verrazano Bridge before all the work that is now being done to it, not to mention zip past everyone on the Belt Parkway. Looking and thinking back I honestly can't believe that I am still alive. You guys must suffer from the same nightmares that I did/do; blasting down the street on your bike with someone suddenly pulling out in front of you, bike hits the car and you go flying in the air for about a block. I usually wake up while still soaring and feeling like I am floating lol...

i took the car out again today lets just say i turned the boost up past what my map sensor can read , roughly 24 psi on vp114 still , and i swear i didnt stop smiling for hours, though i do belive its lifting the heads that high as i got some coolant sprayed out of the overflow.

but it was really friggen hot again

im happy as hell as ive been wanting to stress test the engine for a while now and im pretty sure 24 psi stressed the hell out of it


im actually really excited about my car once again so as soon as i can manage to pick up that ms from joe im taking the car to the track for sure

Very nice! das alot of boost. I dont remember what are you running for head fastners? If your running ARP studs your prob not gona get more clamping unless you upgrade the block/head for more head bolt holes. Maybe take timing down a few degrees.

yeah ive got arp head studs , but only running a composite gasket, so i could try switching to an mls if it is lifting the heads, but then again i dont plan on running it that high ( much), have to wait till we get past theese 95-105* days and see if it does it when its cooler out

im going to back it down slightly and see if i cant get some videos today when i get home from work

yup im pushing water , the head studs are tq'ed on the low end , thinking about mls or other gaskets ,....

suggestions

That's about all you can do plus prob a few coats of copper coat. Nothing more you can do without more clamping force which means more bolts around the cylinders. I've heard the water/meth can help lower the cylinder pressure and then you wouldn't have to drop timing.

Did you deck the block?

A felpro 1010 or 1003 gasket holds tons of cylinder pressure, as long as the deck is good and flat. If the block wasn't decked, who knows.

Either way, an external water leak shouldn't be caused by boost.

Proper deck finish and mls will seal best but leave little room for error if tune is bad. Mls usually torches heads when they fail or lift.


Copper gasket oring setup is alittle more forgiving but also requires several retorques from what i read
I've never retorqued mls

Years ago guys used to use those steel o-ring gaskets and have the heads machined for them, but I haven't seen that in a while.

Big hp guys love the copper with steel oring in block and receiver groove in head. Was debating on this for my new setup but am leaning towards mls since its simple and has been proven to work to my planned power. Just gotta watch the tune

I've always had good luck with the felpro permatorque.

I tried a cosmetic or cometic or whatever the hell they were called MLS back in 2008 or so, and it leaked coolant. When I called they told me I didn't spray both sides enough. wtf.

Most mls dont need any coatings. The copper stuff is up in the air. Some guys swear by spraying it, some dont

I don't know. We used to spray the steel shim gaskets when I was growing up in the dealership, cuz GM told the techs that's what to do.

Cometic told me to spray the crap outta it. It still leaked. $200+ gasket.

I've never had a problem with the permatorque, but I've seen plenty of pictures of the fire ring distorted.

For anything high performance I always have the block decked. Cheap insurance.

The other thing to consider is the finish on his heads. I know a lot of the early pro-comp heads needed to be kissed flat, perhaps that is part of the problem.

Still, I stick by my opinion that if boost caused this issue he has one or more dead cylinders now. I do NOT think the head was lifting, not with 17 bolts. But who knows.

I run Cometics too, gave them a generous amount of copper spray before torquing them down. Re-torqued them after bringing engine to operating temperature and after waiting for slight cool down, never leaked once, so far...

Ive run the permatorque and never had issues but that wasn't with boost. Stock 150k 5.3 on OEM 99 graphite gaskets with original tq to yeild bolts and at 10psi no issues yet. I'm planning to get refreshed heads since I can't get good graphite gaskets for my knotched heads and going to get non knotched heads which use MLS gaskets. GM stopped making graphite and MLS is now the stock replacement for all LS motors... so I'm forced to run them as a quality gasket. Same thing goes for the LS1 lifters which now are all discontinued... all forced to get LS7 lifters as stock replacement. MLS can't be that bad as all the LS guys run them with lots of boost. Heads lift the gasket isn't at fault, can't upgrade the fastners over ARP studs so then all you can do is get 6 bolt vs 5bolt heads or dial down boost/timing or figure out how to alleviate cylinder pressure

I bet the cheap heads have something to do with it.

its actualy fine until i really crank up the boost so maybe i just need to tq down the head studs a lil more

I was only referring to the head brand... quality might not be the same as other 5/8" deck thickness say from edelbrock or brodix etc.

I would def swap the gaskets out and crank them down TIGHT! Man those pistons are close to each other. Barely any gasket between eachother (assuming its bored out)

2 dead cyls , but just plugs again the autolight racing plugs r friggen garbage this is set number 3 ive had plugs die on me so im switching to ngk's

ive got some lowering springs comming 2.25inch drop, hope i can still get it in and out of my driveway after lol

Hmmm interesting. I've been running the NGK TR6 which is only 1 step colder but love them. Going to get another 8 as spares. I only run NGKs in my last 2 motors. Gapped at .035 right out the box.
