Fuel System Suggestions
I have a 1990 IROC with a 350 Vortech SuperCharged motor and the stock fuel system which I would like to upgrade. I am considering putting a sump on the tank and running an inline ACCEL High Pressure Electric Fuel Pump part number 74702. I would like to know what others have done to upgrade their system and post some pics so I can get a better idea of how to upgrade it.
Thank You

Re: Fuel System Suggestions
Honestly, typical vortec/350 combo doesn't make too much power for something like a GSS340 (walbro 255lph pump) in the stock fuel system to feed it. If that's not enough then theres the 340lph aeromotive that will drop right in, and also a 400 and 450 that will go in with minor mods, all should work with the stock fuel system.
with careful injector selection and tuning you should have a few choices there that ccan feed 600-800hp or so...

Re: Fuel System Suggestions
I went with the Granatelli 340lph direct replacement pump for my '87 Iroc project. According to their site it can support 800 n/a hp at the flywheel. Plus at $180 from summit I thought it was a good deal (Summit pn#GRN-GM722-340)

Re: Fuel System Suggestions
Thanks for the feedback guys, I am considering the Aeromotive 340. Did either of you change the fuel lines as well? I am thinking of putting -8 line but would like to know how to connect the lines to the pump outlet fittings?
Thanks

Re: Fuel System Suggestions
The motor was blown in my Iroc when I bought it so I'm putting in a 5.3. I went with the granatelli for more flow and the 90psi rating. Also I didnt change out my fuel lines everything is stock.

Re: Fuel System Suggestions
If its controlled by an fmu to jack pressure up, that will reduce pump flow by a good margin. Not sure how much fuel pressure rise per psi boost it would have or how much power you will make but a 340 may not be enough at high pressure. Twin 255's would definately do it, possibly a single 400 if can fit.
Few psi and closer to 375-400 whp, maybe a 340lph can but will depend on how much fuel pressure rise is required

Re: Fuel System Suggestions
I'm running a single Aeromotive 340 in the tank with -8an feed and return lines.I am using the stock wiring from the fuse panel to the tank, which might be affecting the pumps performance somewhat.
At 40psi base fuel pressure, it runs out of fuel on E85 at around 450whp. I haven't turned up the boost high enough to run it out on pump gas. I'm running 80lb injectors and the fuel pressure starts to drop under boost at anything over 70% duty cycle. I'm running a Vortec 350 with a turbo. Over 11psi on E85 and I'm running out of fuel pressure.
13 psi on pump gas and I'm only hitting about 62% duty cycle.
Hope this helps.
