Remote mount turbo with an l98
Does anyone know of any rear mount turbo kits for our body style car such as the sts kit for the 4th and 5th gens? Or any way on how to make a kit like that?

Re: Remote mount turbo with an l98
Its easy to make a remote turbo setup. Cold side piping to front of car is most difficult but it is doable
4th gen kit can work for the hotside part but you'll have to do the rest
However i believe sts is out of business or so i thought

On their home page.
STS Turbo Closes Down
I founded Squires Turbo Systems in 2003. Thanks to our many wonderful customers and dealers around the globe, Squires Turbo Systems, Inc. grew into one of the most recognized turbocharger companies in the industry. In 2012, the assets of Squires Turbo Systems, Inc. were purchased by a new owner who set up a new company, STS Turbo, Inc.(a Utah Corporation) and I was no longer involved with the operation of the new company. In 2014, STS Turboo, Inc. went into default on their business loans. In March of 2015, the bank foreclosed on STS Turbo, Inc. and the company was shut down. Unfortunately, this company and its owner went out of business owing many customers, vendors, banks and creditors (including myself) large sums of money.
On April 21, 2015 the bank auctioned off all of the repossessed assets of STS Turbo, Inc. I was fortunate enough to be the high bidder on many of the items, including the patents, the production jigs and the majority of what inventory was left. This gave me all of the intellectual property rights, resources, equipment and inventory necessary to restart the company. Unfortunately, the building had already been leased to a new company so I only had a few days to relocate everything. Not having enough room for a warehouse full of inventory at my current business, everything was put into storage until I can get the company restructured, relocated and up and running again.
I appologize for the treatment that my previous customers, dealers and suppliers (all of which I consider my friends) have received over the last couple of years from the new owners and STS Turbo, Inc. As one of the largest creditors to STS Turbo, Inc., I also had a huge financial impact by the failure of STS Turbo, Inc. While I cannot fix the bad experience that you may have had with STS Turbo, Inc., I will do my best to help the customers and dealers of Squires Turbo, because unlike STS Turbo, my name is on the business again. I look forward to working with my dealers and customers again and thank you in advance for your support and your patience as we start the rebuilding process. I am dedicated to restoring the company's prior great reputation for building quality turbocharger systems and components, and giving excellent customer support for all of your incredible projects.

Sincerely,
Rick Squires

They did go out of business however I may be able to find one if I'm lucky. If not what parts are involved in making the setup? Roughly how much would it cost?

Absolute cheapest is in the range of 1500-1800$. Up from there depending what parts you use
I would recommend meth inj or an intercooler despite the claims of being able to run low boost without it, iats will still heat soak and get warm. Been there done that

Re: Remote mount turbo with an l98
use the stock intermediate pipe, cut off the muffler and add the little bit of plumbing to connect the turbo. For the charge pipe a stock v6 charge pipe will give you most of the pieces you need, section and reweld, or a stick of straight 2.5" pipe and a few bends welded together will do as well.
The headache is the oil feed and mostly the return, you can look around online for what others have done. Justin (Orr89...) might have some suggestions since he just did one...

Re: Remote mount turbo with an l98
Oil feed and return is the easiest part lol
Turbowerx pump and summit pushlock hose to motor front. Weld a piece of 1/2" pipe to the fuel pump block off plate. Return there
Oil supply is just -4 from back of the block fitting to turbo
Key is having no kinks in drain just off the turbo and go big. Ideal would be a small reservoir under turbo to drain into first but there isnt alot of room to work with
