Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread
I dont even know if this year even had a electric pump in the tank. And the stock location for a filter looks like there was never one there. Its pure steel lines from the rear axle to the pass side fender.
Now would a external electric pump by the tank with a return regulator ran on the drivers side do the trick and possibly solve my issue? Cuz if it does all I need to fix is the a/c and im golden.

LMAO!^^^
good deal on the posi.
i agree, the fuel line doesnt look that close. i thought on 87 the fuel line should be on the drivers side? if you put a glasspack where the cat was, how close is the fuel line?
when did the fuel boiling trouble start exactly? after the carb swap?
i finally got some tires! used from a bud but in decent shape. firestone indy 500's, 275/60/15, 28" tall, for $38, lol. just need some 15" rims and im back in business.

You know it. I picked up my V6 when I got it.
$250 for a good posi complete rear is fine with me. I found some LS1 fans as well, and might be picking up a set of C5 rims.

The carb swap was already done when I got the car. But its been doing it since I got it. Ide have to look to see how close the glasspack is. I dont think its close tho. I double check when I get off work.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread
it might not have had an electric pump. the original filter would have been at the carb then. looks like a lot of crap in your tank tho. def need to drop and clean and prob change the pickup strainer.
if I remember right the white axle vent lets air into the tank. try cracking your gas cap alittle and drive it around. see if it vapor locks again

Yea most def needs the tank to get dropped but I dont have the place to do that. The vent valve was pulled and cleaned. And yup I have tried driving with the cap cracked and still does it.

i keep a strong magnet under my gas tank so any rust wont get sucked up. i'd probably try changing that filter too.
will you need a different proportioning valve for the disk brake rear?
yesterday after driving all over town looking for 2, 15" rims unsuccessfully, i bumped into a guy in my neighborhood selling 4 eagle, aluminum wheels. he didnt want to sell just 2 rims. so i bought all 4,...$40! theyre nothing special to look at. my car is just a play toy. really just wanting to hook. hoping to do some testing later after i get them mounted. if all goes well, i got a few races lined up. an 04 GTO with some bolt-ons, & i'm gonna re-run that SRT neon. the other SRT neon dropped a shift fork in the tranny, ate all the gears, lol.

Awesome man! I'm hoping the fans will cool down the car in traffic so I can drive it more. I'm excited for the posi, maybe my car will be a racecar now lol.

Re: Official Tampa, FL Area Thread
i might have to go with a 4th gen posi/rear? with these 28" tires it skips around tight turns since the spider gears are welded.
my cars been in the air for 2 days trying to sort out the suspension. took lots of measurements and drew it on the concrete. it was pretty obvious that the instant center was too far back. i think it was unloading the rear? i made a few adjustments. hoping to do a test in a few hours before some racing this weekend.

What did you do to the suspension to fix the IC? Not much adjustment with the stock stuff I'd imagine.

The exhaust ends where the cat would be. Since it clogged a while back i cut it off and put a CherryBomb in its place and the remainder of the exhaust is long gone. PO didn't take one bit of care of this car, so i been fixing as I go. Its my DD so its hard to just stop driving it and fix everything.

Its in, but I have to mill the hubs on the wheels to fit on the rear right. But I've got a list of things to fix on it still. Will is coming back out on Monday to help if you wanna swing by if you aren't busy. Make a mini-meet out of it.
