Going Big Block

Decided to drop a454 in my twin turbo GTA. In the process of getting parts for engine. Thinking if going with GMPP 502 Ram Jet fuel system. Any thoughts?
Planning on having it ready in possibly 2 years before I swap it. Looking into tranñy options. Feel free to chime in for a good discussion on what I might want to consider.

Thanks!

Re: Going Big Block

A lot of it depends on your goals for the car. Street...Race.. Drag...Autocross. There are better intake systems. Does the car currently have twins? Are you going with twin turbos on the big block? 4L65 or 4L80 would be the top two trans options, unless you are going for a drag car only.

Has twins now with a 350. A/C is long gone. Going to make it street/strip. Just got my 700r4 beefed up for now

Re: Going Big Block

Using the twins. Thinking of GMPP 502 Ram Jet intake. Have a twin 58mm throttle body for it. Was possibly going to use a Holley control module. Depends on what I can find

Re: Going Big Block

I would go with a single plan with an elbow or a Hogan. Just not a fan of the GMPP intake on anything but a mild N/A build.

Re: Going Big Block

I want to keep a TPI type intake. There will be less fabrication this way. Only thing I might consider doing is inter coolers, but that might be about it. With the turbos, I really don't want a top feed system. I've seen a few different ones, not sure if the one you mentioned is like this. Either way, will be one bad motha on the road.

Re: Going Big Block

I was going to do a 383 with an LT1 intake modified, but came across this for the right price and am picking up another with edelbrock heads.

Re: Going Big Block

Hogan makes a TPI style intake that flows much better than the GMPP.

Reviving my old thread. 489 bbc is still at machine shop. Found an Edelbrock Pro-Flo system that is perfect for my car. 4L80 Trans. Waiting on cam to be made before I get torque converter

Re: Going Big Block

That sounds like a lot of moola for the engine and transmission once everything is done. Why not go the route of twin turbo LS truck engine? Is it a class requirement or did you have all this old big block stuff lying around?

Re: Going Big Block

Already had the block and everyone else is doing LS stuff. I want to be different. I’m doing an LS swap into a 75 Corvette sometime soon.
