T-Tops & 425HP Motor
Guys,
I have a 91' Camaro that i'm building a sbc 350 for that will have roughly 425HP at the crank. The model Camaro that i have has t-tops and currently a stock suspension. I plan on this being mainly a performance car and lately i've started to wonder whether or not the chassis can handle this power due to the t-tops.
My question is has anyone delt with this issue, and if so, what suspension/chassis upgrade have you done to ensure the car doesn't twist itself apart under the power of the motor?
Thanks,
Scott

The best thing you can do is subframe conectors and strut tower brase. I am running 450 at the wheels and I was running the strut tower brace with my subs and it was allot stiffer.

Within the first week of owning my car, I had sub frame connectors installed. 10+ years later, I now have a full cage and still have the SFC and T-tops.

Hello
Like mentioned above! If you installed a set of SFC's the vehicle will be able to handle anything you can through at it! Below is a link to show you what UMI Performance has to offer!

If you have any other questions feel free to ask and I will be more than glad to help!
Thanks
Brad

Re: T-Tops & 425HP Motor
yea sfc's are great and do pretty much all they're said to do, but 450 hp really won't twist your car apart. from all the complaining people have about their 3rd gens having weak unibodies it's pretty rare for one to get damaged from too much power. about 99% of broken/twisted unibodies were caused by rust. and just to make you feel a little better about the T-tops, the hard top camaros were only 5% more structurally sound than the T-top cars.

Thanks for the advice, i'm going to throw a set of sfc's on as soon as possible. I checked out the UMI Performance sfc's and they look pretty good. I like the site and it's nice to see how they go on from the pictures so i'll probably be getting a set here pretty soon.
