"OFFICIAL" Lowered 3rd Gen Picture Thread (Post Your Pics Here)
It's my opinion that lowered 3rd Gens are the best looking 3rd Gens out there! It's also my opinion that there needs to be a thread that specifically caters to only lowered cars.
Let's officially make this the place to post pictures of any and all lowered 82-92 Camaros & Firebirds so that everyone can get a good look at 'em. (Preferably at multiple angles)
I just recently cut 3/4 of a coil off my springs, but unfortunately it didn't come down that much. I'll be re-doing it here in the next couple days (weather permitting) so that there's ZERO wheel gap left.
Alrighty then,......let the posting begin!!!

Screw it, here's a couple of how it sits right now. I'll definitely take some better pics after I cut more off and get rid of all that wheel gap.

I dont think it needs to be any lower. I think it looks perfect just like that. I agree that they look MUCH better lowered, but there is too low.

On Ground Control Weight Jacks....
I'm almost all the way out of adjustment on the front & down, so to go lower, I'd need shorter springs.

Hey Stephen, What length springs did they give you for the rear? 10"? They gave me 10" 200 lb/in rear springs, and the lowest I can get the rear isn't anywhere near as low as yours looks to be in your sig. I bought 9" 200 lb/in springs to swap, but haven't done it yet. What shocks are you using? BTW I love the combination of your cars stance and no spoiler.
Ill throw a picture up of my car in a few weeks after I get my new wheels made.

Nice lookin rides,......I hope we get a lot more people that post pics of their lowered cars.
Thanks, I appreciate your comment as well as your opinion. I DO agree that there's a lot of them out there that definitely "Too Low",.....but for me it's a matter of getting rid of that wheel gap between the top of my tires and the fender lip. I just don't care for having ANY wheel gap on my cars.
I'm gonna find a picture of what my car looked like when I first bought it. That picture will show you exactly why I like lowered cars. Trust me, this will be very funny. (Be right back)

Ok, this is what I was talking about. The very first thing I did after buying this car was to grab my camera and take some pictures. The previous owner said the "Stance" was his favorite part about the whole car.
Back in the day we use to call these G.I. cars. (I grew up close to McCord Air Force Base where 9 out of every 10 basic training soldiers had cars that looked exactly like this)
I actually grew up with a family of drag racers, where the preferred stance was very low. So, the bottom line is, I like 'em low!!!
Check these out...............(Can you say: "STINK BUG")

You all make me want to go out there right now and lower my car with a hack saw. My car rides like a truck compared to those. Grr. Must lower car. I can stick a knife hand inbetween the rubber and my front fender, the gap is very large.

Re: "OFFICIAL" Lowered 3rd Gen Picture Thread (Post Your Pics Here)
This is hands down (in my opinion) the absolute baddest 3rd Gen I've seen on this site! Then again, I am partial to anything with a blower or anything that has the Pro/Street look!!!
Those are actually a discontinued size. (BFG 265/50/15) I pulled them off an old set of Torque Thrust II's that were sitting around for the last few years. They worked out perfect on the rear Convo's, being that they look fairly wide and don't stick out further than the fender. Now I just need to lower it another 1" in the back and another 1.5" in the front so it sits more like flrtin1's car.

Its funny you mention the BFG's being discontinued, I just put new BFG skins on the front on Monday and while I was looking for them on line I noticed they dont list the 275/50/15's I have on the back......that sucks!

And yes, that does suck about the discontinued 275/50/15's. I searched high and low for a pair last year to put on the back of my lowered 89 Silverado. The 295/50's are about the only thing still available in the 50's series that have any width to them. Unfortunately they were a little too wide to put my 91 (with the Convo back-spacing) or I would've gone with them. It's gonna suck when these 265's wear out and I have to replace them with something.

Re: "OFFICIAL" Lowered 3rd Gen Picture Thread (Post Your Pics Here)
Well, I finally got around to pulling my springs out and cutting them today. I had to cut a total of one and a half coils off the front springs, and two and a half coils off the back to achieve the ride height I wanted.
The only thing I need to do now is have my exhaust pipe modified. It sits too low directly after where the two pipes come together. (Between there and the Cat) You'll see what I mean in the last picture. It's only 2.25" inches from the ground as of right now. There's enough ground cleance everywhere else to handle such things as speed bumps and pitched driveways as long as I go slow. (which I obviously will)
.
That pack of smokes is exactly 2-1/8" wide, so yeah,......2-1/4" is definitely not going to cut it. I'll be raising the exhaust up tomorrow!

Trust me, I thought this through very carfully before doing it. Obviously when it comes to lowering a car this low, you HAVE to think about the pros and cons before doing it. Actually with any modification you do, if you don't think about what you're doing before you do it, you're flying blind and have no business doing it in the first place. I'll have the exhaust fixed on it tomorrow so I'll be just fine.
Here, look at these two pics.......in the first one you can see that I have more clearance that what it appears to be. (5 inches - the pack is just over 4") In the second one you can see (over on the left) that somebody modified the stock exhaust pipe. I'll modify it back to where it sits up higher than the ground effects.

That hood looks great man,......I also like the "big & little" tire combo you're running. I went with mine because it gives the car more of that Pro/Street look.

Mine was this way when we got it. Don't know how it was lowered but it appears to be -1.5" lower based on original fender height. Makes it a bit challenging to get out of for my 50 yr old fat ****!
