Tell me about the strut tower Bearing/Plates, Different options.
Hi, i am unsure what they are called but I am intrested in changing my Strut tower plates and would like info as far as pros and cons and different options. Thanks

That said, I note that you're running an Edelbrock STB. With that brace in place, I couldn't align the car as I wanted using the Spohn mount (and the alignment was nothing outlandish), so I swapped in the Founders version thinking that the added adjustments would eliminate the problem. Nope. Even the Founders mount required modification.

Are they worth the Money? What do they offer over stock? How do you check if your stock ones are worn out?

Mine came out good. They made a noticeable difference to my steering.

1) More adjustment for alignment settings (more aggressive options available)
2) The stock rubber strut mounts have a wobble going forwards/backwards as well as side to side. This means your struts aren't getting the work they're supposed to....The solid bearing strut mounts put all the movement into the struts themselves. This lets the struts perform to a higher performance.

I've originally gotten the moog mounts off rockauto. I was aware one of the slots is twice as wide as needed in order to acomodate all years thirdgen for some of the mounts, but the moog ones pictured on the website showed the slots the right size (all 3 narrow). They were 130ish if memory serves.
The rubber in my mounts was awesome, but after I took it off the bearing had some minor binding. Decided to change for this reason alone.
I got the mounts and then I noticed the third slot was wide... and they didn't even provided some washers. That was substandard, esp for a moog part and the picture on the website misleading. On a side note, just verifying the application years should have revealed it fit all years (so wide slot). Not only that, but the plate is constructed of 2 sheets of metal stamped together (poorly, worse than my originals). So I had to return. For only $40 more I got the founders. Awesome product and beef like all hell. The adjustting slots were longer so they barely accomodated my aggresive street spec (1" camber).
All in all they look trick, they compliment nicely my underhood look vs the stupid replacement where I should have used the big *** washers).
PS: I was a little nervous about the rubber missing, fearing they may transmit some NVH but completely unfounded, they're awesome.

$170 for the set I guess isn't bad, So after putting these on Ill have to realign the car correct.

The biggest difference I found with the aftermarket plates was brand and price. Most are the same design.Check them all out. UMI, J&M products, founders spohn, are all I can remember right now. I have j&m products but IIRC founders are identical and cheaper.

yes u have to ralign. u'll find the alignment is easier beeing that u can adjust cmber separately from camber

You don't HAVE to get the car aligned after installing CC plates. You can usually eyeball where the caster and camber should be. I would certainly recommend an alignment after changing the toe, but the toe won't be changed by just installing CC plates.

The factory went with rubber for a reason. Is it because its cheaper? I've heard that strut mount bearings like these aren't very long-term reliable, although none of that was in reference to any thirdgen, more of a general observation of these types of suspension setups. Any of you guys know about that? Anyone noticed any excessive wear over a few years?
