smaller power steering pulley?

i've seen alot of people mention (in old threads) that the best way to increase the power steering's effect at low speed and idle is with a smaller pulley to spin the pump faster at a lower rpm. but doesn't anyone know of a smaller pulley from a different car or have a part number for one that works? i'm trying to completely overhaul my power steering system. so far ive got an AGR high pressure high volume pump, a recently rebuilt steering box and i'll probably try and find an astrovan shaft with the bearing instead of the plastic bushing. then just run a synthetic automatic trans fluid instead of power steering fluid and have a filter in the return line and i should never have to do anything to the power steering system again. ideas anyone?

Re: smaller power steering pulley?

Well, your 84 is double v-belt if it had AC.

If you went serpentine . . .

If your pump has a 3/4" shaft, the pulley with a smaller diameter being used in a lot of LS_ swaps is a 300-202 Dorman. If memory serves, the stock pump is .75"

GM is .66" or .75" shaft for the most part.

Search and read LS swap forums and you'll see some more options, again assuming serpentine.

What's your point? I had a 5.3 yes but it never got swapped in and now there are 600 miles between me and that engine
