Bolt Dimensions: Strut to Spindle ?
Does anyone know these off-hand?
I googled and searched the **** out of it, and found the Spohn kit, but not the actual bolt dimensions (length, etc)

Re: Bolt Dimensions: Strut to Spindle ?
You can get any size/type of nuts and bolts you want from McMaster Carr (or other industrial supply houses). You just have to know what size they are.

Those are the right bolts, just no idea what length they are.
There are some hardware stores that carry this kind of hardware as well, but not a lot.

I have used stock ones that I pulled from cars I am parting out. $10 + shipping for both sides.
I'm not at them right now or I could measure for you, but not a common hardware store bolt for sure

Yeah I know about McMaster-Carr. Been using em since probably before you were born.
Doesn't matter; they don't have what you need.
What you need comes from a GM dealer.
NOT a hardware store item.
DO IT RIGHT.

???
Please explain why getting THE RIGHT THING, when that's NOT a "hardware store item", is hard to wrap your head around. I'll be glad to help you understand about "special" "single purpose" hardware.

The bolts are 16mm flange bolts. Forget the length 70mm??? Maybe. Menard's has them get grade 10.9 or 12.9 NOT 8.8 grade. You also need flange nuts. My store had 10.9 grade. Also check Amazon if you can't find them locally. Stock nuts are crimped to lock them but you can also use lock tight 271 or 630

Back in the day we had moderators that dealt with crap like this. What crawled up your hoop?
Where do you think GM get's those bolts from? Your insinuation that a car dealership is the only place to buy a special, magic bolt for a piece of machinery is absolutely asinine.
Troll elsewhere.

While it's true they aren't a hardware store item, they are available at places besides a dealer.

Re: Bolt Dimensions: Strut to Spindle ?
And those appear to lack the correct diameter shaft behind the threads too, just like hardware store ones.
Kinda like starter bolts or clutch bolts... yeah, you can buy 3/8"-16 x 4" or 1" or whatever bolts all day long; but if they're not STARTER BOLTS, or CLUTCH BOLTS, then they're not STARTER or CLUTCH BOLTS. Same deal with the strut bolts. They're NOT regular bolts.
It's not impossible that you could get THE RIGHT THING from one of the shock mfrs or the like; never seen em, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. However, for something that YOUR LIFE, and THE LIFE of all the people around you on the roads are depending on, going to the dealer and just getting THE RIGHT THING, is sometimes just THE RIGHT THING to do.

You could be right, would you have the part #?
Can't say my local Chevy dealer gets too enthusiastic about looking up 30 year old parts that aren't in the computer.

Re: Bolt Dimensions: Strut to Spindle ?
No unfortunately I don't.
Yeah I know what you mean... the dealer is a STORE, just like the Apple store or something; they're in the business of selling NEW stuff (cars), not hardware for antiques. Like, just TRY going to the Apple store and buying a floppy drive for your IIe... just about the same situation. About the same age even.
