help with rear end hitting sway bar.

i bought a 86 iroc. everything under the car is either spohn or upi and bmr. the suspension was done right it allso has coilovers front and back. the problem iam having is on the driverside the rearend is about 2inches away from the swaybar but the pass, side the rearend is hitting the swaybar and hitting hard when i hit a bump plus its causing a vibration. i measured from the body to the tire on both sides of the car infront and behind the tires with the same measurement on both sides. thinking the rearend was crooket. the sway bar is not bent either. i dont know what to adjust first. has anyone had this issue before? oh and the car has a moser ford 9inch. with relocate brackets. p.s. sorry about my spelling getting old.

Re: help with rear end hitting sway bar.

If the sway bar has the mounting brackets on both sides I don't see how it could possibly be hitting the axle. Any pics?

are you hearing a banging noose and you believe its the sway bar or have you evidence the bar is in fact hitting.

usually the banging is caused by the rear coilovrrs bottoming out since most designs on the market are poorly speced out and are too short

i will get picts when my son gets off work. its banging loud. i left the tire shop[ the otherday. after switching wheels. when i went back with my other ride to get the wheels that i had removed. the guy gave me a clip he said when i pulled out the car hit so hard in the rear that one of the clips holding the brake line to the drum fell off.

Re: help with rear end hitting sway bar.

Did you get this figured out? My rear sway was banging my Aluminum Cover. You could see the marks on the rear and when you bounced on it, the sway bar hit the bottom portion. I tried to move the clamps that hold the bushings, but it didn't work. If you fixed, I'd like to know how. Thank you.

Re: help with rear end hitting sway bar.

You normally have to space the swaybar away from the housing..
Also make sure the the TQ arm adapter bracket upper bolt area isn't hitting the floorpan/ driveshaft tunnel.
