Lift points for my 1985

Howdy everyone,
So I tried search here for a thread "how to jack up / lift" my 1985 and I can't find anything with my key words or key phrases. I do not have the owners manual, and have not purchased a Chiltens / Haynes manual yet. I need to know where to place my jack so I do not twist the body or crush part of the frame rail. I am looking for high resolution pictures if anyone has some. I do not have frame connectors if that matters.
Thanks everyone

Re: Lift points for my 1985

To lift the front, I put the jack under the center of the K member under the engine. Stands go under the outside(wheel side) of the coil spring pockets. To lift the rear, input the jack under the center of the differential, with the stands under the axle to either side of the jack. The stands can also go under the subframe where the rear control arms bolt up.

Re: Lift points for my 1985

I would never put jack stands under the front A-arms.
On the small diagram, put them where the red spots are.

I've never had a problem with the stands under the arms and the car is very stable when I push on the fenders. Having the stands under the control arms in front, and the axle in the rear, is also the recommended way to support it when installing subframe connectors.

The car may seem stable but be careful, if the stands are not placed correctly, the spring/a-arm can pop that jackstand out quickly. I have seen it happen to a novice.

We aren't installing subframe connectors (as far as I know) If we were, a drive on lift is even better.

Re: Lift points for my 1985

I have always put jackstands under the A arms in front and under axle tubes in rear.

Jack car up in front with a 2 to 3 ton hyd. floor jack under center of K member. Lifts both front wheels up at same time.

For rear, same type jack, placed under center of differential and lifts both rear wheels up at same time.

If I'm removing A arms, K member etc then jack stands would go where the front red squares are in that picture.

If I'm removing rear end or LCAs, jack stands would go where red squares in rear is on that picture

Re: Lift points for my 1985

Plus you have to lift a thirdgen a long way to get a jack stand under the foward red spots.
